CIGARETTE TIP.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in cigarettes and has more particular reference to the tips or mouth pieces therefor.

The primary object of the invention resides in the provision of a cigarette tip that is constructed with one or more longitudinal air channels so that when a puff is taken upon the cigarette a. certain amount of air will be drawn into the mouth with the result that the smoke is satisfactorily cooled so that it will not burn or bite the tongue and otherwise. be disagreeable.

The invention further aims to provide a tip of this character that .may be formed in association with the cigarette during or subsequent to the manufacture of the same.

With the foregoing and other objectsin View as the nature of the invention will be 2 better understood, the same comprises the novel form of the invention hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

First having reference to Figures 1 and 2, the cigarette consists of a filler 5v and the usual paper Wrapper 6. At the month end of this cigarette, the wrapper 6 is formed at opposed points with longitudinally extendmg inwardly pressed channels 7-7 after which a covering of paper or other suitable material 8 is wrapped around the mouth end, which wrapper terminates at its inner edge inwardly of the ends of said channels 77. Obviously when the tip end of the cigaretteis placed within the mouth and a puff is taken upon the same to draw the smoke therethrough, a certain quantity of air will be drawn through the channels 7-7 for consequently cooling the smoke and for performing otherfeatures hereinbefore mentioned. I

In Figures 3 and 4, the cigarette includes a filler 5' and a wrapper 6. In this instance, a strip of paper or other suitable material 8' is wrapped around the month end of the cigarette and prior to or subsequent to the wrapping of this strip of paperthe same is formed at opposed points with apair of longitudinal air channels 7 '7 for accomplishing the same result as set out above.

In Figure 5 the filler is designated 5", while the wrapper is designated 6". In this instance there is provided a strip of paper 8" having upon the inner surface thereof a strip of corrugated paper 9 so that when said strip is wrapped around the mouth end of the cigarette a plurality of longitudinal air channels will be provided so as to facilitate entrance of air into the mouth every time a puff is taken upon the cigarette.

It will thus be seen that I have provided several highly novel, simple, and inexpensive forms of cigarette tips, all of which are well adapted for the purposes heretofore designated. Even though I have herein shown and described the most preferred embodiment of the invention with which I am at this time familiar it is nevertheless to be understood that further modifications may be had without effecting the spirit and scope of the appended claim. Having thus described the invention,-what I claim is In a cigarette of the class described, a strip of paper wrapped around the month end of the cigarette, and a corrugated strip interposed between said aforementioned strip and the cigarette wrapper to provide a series of through air channels. whereby a current of cold air will be inhaled at the same time smoke is drawn into the mouth.
