ATTACHMENT FOR OVERSHOES.

Application. filed February 18, 1928. Serial No. 255,472.

This invention relates to attachments for overshoes.

An important object of the invention is to provide a device adapted to detachably engage an overshoe and to provide protection for the stockings of the wearer against contact by the upper portion of the overshoe and against splashes.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which enhances the appearance of the overshoe and which is readily removable therefrom, so that the at- 'tachment may be replaced by a second attachment to correspond to a change in th apparel of the wearer.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be very readily and cheaply produced and which may be readily attached to the overshoe and which will embrace the leg of the wearer to assist in protecting the same against the weather.

These and other objects I attain by the construction shown in the accompanying drawing, wherein forthe purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation showing an overshoe attachment constructed in accordance with my invention in position; I

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, the attachment comprises a band of material 10 having attached to its inner face along the upper edge thereof a flap 11. Connected to this flap and to the'band are vertically extending spring clips, generally des ignated at 12, which'clipsembody spaced

13 and 14. The leg 14 is straight and is secured to the'flap and, is adapted in the application of the band to be inserted with the flap to the interior of the overshoe. The leg 13 resiliently contacts the leg 14 at point 15 adjacent the end thereof and from this point to its extremity, it diverges outwardly from the arm 15 so as to provide a mouth 16 by which the material of the overshoe may be readily directed between the arms of the clip. The strip of material 10, which may be of any suitable character, such as fur,

felt or cloth matching the apparel of the wearer is suitably reinforced along its edges, as indicatedat 17, and has applied thereto at one end thereof upon its inner face fasteners 18adapted to coact with fasteners 19 secured to the outer face of the strip at a point slight ly spaced from the opposite end. thereof. The flap 11 may be formed of any soft warm material and acts as aretainer for the strip to prevent the same from slipping or riding upon the leg of the wearer.

It will be obvious that a device of this character may be readily and cheaply produced and maybe very readily applied to the shoe by simply slipping the flap and the attached arms of the spring clip to theinterior of the shoe and then securing the ends of the band 10 to one another. The flap is of such character that it permits the band to be shifted about the leglto place the fastenings oroverlapped portion of the band 10 either at the front or side of. the leg, as is desired by the wearer.

Such a device may be made very ornamental and, as pointed out above, a plurality of pairs thereof maybe employed which are con structed to correspond to changes in wearing apparel.

Since the construction hereinbefore set forth is capable of a'certain range of change and modification without materially departing from the spirit of the IDVGHUOD.
