The object of this invention is to furnish an improved razor-strap, which shall be so constructed that it may be used as a haul-strap, as a straight hone, as a iiexible convex hone, and as a spring-strap, and which shall be simple in construction and easily adjusted for its various uses.
The invention consists in a razor-strap which shall be so constructed that it may be bent to form a convex hone, and in the combination of the flexible hone, the strap, the ring, the hook, and the lever and its hooks and pivoting-bracket with each other, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents the stock of the strap, which is faced with leather prepared to act as a hone. To the forward end of the stock Ais attached the end of a loose strap, B, which is made of the same length and breadth as the face of the hone A, and to the free end of which is attached a ring, C, to h'ook upon a hook, D, attached to the forward side of the handle, and also to hook upon the hooks e", formed upon the lever E. The lever E is pivoted to a stud or bracket, F, attached to the handle, so as to leave room for the hooks e when the lever E is turned back against the handle, and
at the same time allow the said lever to turn back so far that the tension of the strap B will lock it in place, the ring C being made large enough to pass over the rear or pivoted end of the lever E, and over the bracket F, as Shown in Fig. 3.
When .the strapis to be put into the case G the strap B is turned forward upon the face of the hone A, and the ring U is hooked upon the hook D, which prevents the face of the hone from being rubbed by the ease G. This is'also the adjustment when vthe strap is to be used as a haul-strap. By detaching the ring U from the hook D, and throwing the strap B back, the instrument is a straight hone.
By swinging the lever E forward, passing it through the ring G, passing the said ring into the hooks e', and drawing the lever E back, the stock A is bent to form a liexible convex hone, to enter the hollow of the blade and keep the edge thin, and at the same time the strap B, being brought under tension, becomes a spring-strap for setting the edge.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl 1. The combination of the flexible hone A, the strap B, and a suitable handle, said strap being attached substantially as described, so that it can be retained at either side Ot' the hone, for using the same in a straight or curved form, for the purpose set forth.
2. The combination of the flexible hone A, the strap B, the ring C, the hook D, and the lever E, and its hooks e and pivoting-bracket F, with each other, substantially as hereiny shown and described.
