IMPROVEMENT lN PUDDLING-FURNACE DOORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,225, dated November 23, 1875; application filed June 5, 1875.

Be it known that I, J OSEPH BOYLAND, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Puddling-Furnace Door, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of one or more ribs or flanges on the door, in combination with one or more swing-stops on the door-frame contrived to fasten the door effectually whether it closes entirely or only partially, and so that the puddler can operate the fasteners with the least possible loss of time and interference with the performance of his work.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a furnacedoor with my improved fastening, and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section of the wall of the furnace above the door when it is closed.

Arepresents the swing'stops on the doorframe or furnace-wall, and B the curved ribs on the door with which the stops act to fasten the door shut. The ribs are a little eccentric to the pivots of the stops, so that in case any claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination of one or more swingstops, A, on the furnace-wall or door-frame, with one or more curved ribs or flanges, B, on the door, substantially as specified.
