CARD HOLDER.

This invention relates to card holders and more particularly to card holders for use in connection with advertisingapparatus, an object of the invention being to provide improved means whereby cards may be readily I secured to the cardholder or removed therefrom and replaced by other cards at the will of the operator.

A further object is to" provide a device of this character which enables the easy and quick interchange of cards and provides a secure mounting for the cardswhen in use.

lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations andarrangements of parts, which will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims. o

1 represents a casing in which a drum 2 has rotary mounting. This drum 2 is provided with disks 3 at its ends, carrying a circular series of card holders 4 pivotally mounted in the disks and supporting cards 5. As the drum is turned to move the cards past a holding device 6 the cards fall in vertical position so that an upper and a lower card are exposed at the same time, as clearly indicated in Figure 1 and 3.

Each card holder 4 comprises two longitudinal sections 7 and 8. As a matter of fact, the section 7 provides a recess for the accommodation of section 8, the latter being removable, and both sections of semicircular form in cross section.

The removable section 8 has a beveled end 3 adapted to fit under a beveled tongue 10 jacent one end of the section 7, andfsaid sec tion 8 carries a pivoted turn button 11 which is adapted to engagein a recess 12 in the opposite portion of section 7 This turn button 11 1s fixed to a screw 13 which has rotary mounting in section 9 so that it may be readily turned by the use of an ordinary screw driver. 7

A series of headed'studs14 are secured to the section 7, and section 8'is made with keyhole slots 15 to receive said studs 14/ Furthermore, the face portions of the section 8 in which the keyhole slots 15 are provided are flattened and slightly beveled, as indicated at 16, so that when the headed studs are projected through the larger ends of the slots 15 and the section 8 moved longitudinally there will be a certain cam action to force the sections together. 7

To remove the section 8 and the cards 17 it is necessary to first turn the turn button ll through the medium of the screw 13 to the position shown in dotted lines in Figure 5. The section 8 can then be moved to the right of Figure 5, moving the larger ends of the key hole slots 15 into register with the headed studs 14 and drawing the beveled end 9 of said section 8 from under the beveled tongue r 10 of section 7. The section 8 can then be removed and the cards can be removed and new cards can be placed on the studs and the sec- 8 tion 8 returned to position on the studs with the studs in the larger ends of the slots, and then when said section 8is moved longitudinally or to the right ofFigures 5 and 6, the turn button 11 can be operated to move the same into position longitudinally of the sections and securely hold the sections inclamping position relative to the cards.

The long trunnion 21 is first inserted through the opening 22 to force the spring tongue 25 outwardly far enough to allow the trunnion 20'to be positioned in the bearing recess 19, when the parts can be moved to the left of Figure 6 andheld in this position by the spring tongue 25.

This means of coupling the card holders to the drum facilitates the quick assemblage of the parts and the quick removal of the card holders but does not in any way interfere With the pivotal mounting of the card holders to allow the cards to move intheoperation 7 of the advertising device.

Various changes and alterations might be made in the general form of the parts described without departing from my invention and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details setforth but considermysell. at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A card holder, comprising two sections, one section recessed receiving the other section, said sections having stud and slot connection, and a turn button on one section engaging the other section and holding the parts against independent longitudinal movement. 7
