ERNEST L. SWARTS,
or DIXON, ILLINOIS.
ICE-CARD HOLDER.
Application filed May 1'7,
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, ERNEST L. SwARTs, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Dixon, in the county of Lee and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ice-Card Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to holders, preferably made of sheet metal, which may be detachably mounted on a window or door frame or other suitable portion of a structure whereby the ice or other card may be properly displayed and held in display po sition.
One object of my invention is the pro-v1- sion of a device which may be mounted in any position desired and which may be readily attached to or detached from the structure which arries it.
Another object of my invention is to arrange the device so that the ice or other card may be easily inserted therein or removed therefrom as desired.
Another object of my invention is to construct a device from a sheet of metal so that it can be produced at very small eirpense.
Other objects of my invention will appear and be described in the specification.
The novelty of my invention will. be hereinafter more fully set forth and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing:
Fig. 1, is a perspective view of a device embodying my invention.
Fig. 2, is a front view of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is an edge view of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4, is a diagrammatic view of a portion of a window frame showing various positions in which the device may be mounted thereon.
The same numerals of reference are used to indicate identical parts in all the figures.
In its preferred form of construction my holder comprises a main portion 1, bent at an angle as shown at 2, and again bent to form a foot 3. Flanges 4 are formed on three of the sides of the body portion to form channels which receive and hold the card. A pair of feet 5 and 6 are formed by cutting and bending portions of the device, these 1922. Serial No. 561,564.
feet extending to the same level 3 previously described.
A pair of keyholes 7 and 8 are formed on the foot 3, each keyhole comprising a cir cular opening with three slots radiating from it. The foot 5 has a key hole 9 and the foot 6 has a key hole 10, these keyholes each having two slots radiating from it, all of these keyholes being clearly shown in Fig. 2. And it"is to be noted that the center to center distances between these keyholes is uniform and in the form of a square. 1
The device is attached preferably by means of round head screws, though if preferred nails may be used. The screws are spaced apart so that the head will pass through the circular openings of the keyholes, whereupon the device is moved to pass the heads of the screws beyond the circular openings so that the device ig held firmly in place.
As shown in Fig. 4, the device of Fig. 2, is mounted in the position 11, under which condition the screw heads would engage the slots which extend toward the upper part of Fig. 2, of the keyholes 7 and 8, though if mounted in the position 12 (Fig. 4) the screw heads would engage the opposite slots. If mounted in the position 13 the screw heads would engage the slots extending to the left of F ig. 2. If it is desired to mount the device to the right of the window frame, though in the position 13 of Fig. 4, the key hole 10 of the foot 6 and the key hole 7 of the foot 3, are engaged by the screw heads whereupon the device will be in the position 14. The position 15 requires the engagement of the screw heads with the key hole 90f the foot 5 and the key hole 8 of the foot 3.
as the foot The position 16 corresponds to the posi-,
tion shown in Fig. 2, the screw heads engaging the same keyholes as are engaged in the position 15, while the position 17, is the reverse of the position 16, the engagement of the screw heads corresponding to the en-- gagement of the position 14.
It will thus be seen that the device may be attached in any of its positions to any portion of a structure, and also that it may be easily detached therefrom, when not in use.
It is also to be noted that the ice or other card may be easily inserted in the holder and if it is desired to merely remove the card, this may be easily done Without removing the holder, though the holder may be removed and. the card left in it if preferred. Cards of the kind intended to be used With my holder are usually printed on both sides with the amount or quantity of commodity desired. And it Will be noted that the position of the card may be changed in the holder so as to display the required signal.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim- In a card holder the combination of a card holding portion, and a supporting portion provided With a plurality of key holes each having a plurality of slots affording means for attachment in aplurality of positions.
