IMPLEMENT-HOLDING DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 21, 1919, Serial No. 305,742.
To alt whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD VIKSTROM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lowell, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful. Improvements in Implement- Holding Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device for holding implements and tools of various kinds, and especially for tools used in a machine shop, and by mechanics in general. The device is however suitable for use by physicians for holding small vials, and may also be so made that it will be suitable for use in holding table silverware.
One object of the invention is to provide a casing in which are mounted several slidable elements each provided with a series of apertures, the apertures of the respective elements being of different diameter, for receiving and retaining articles or tools of different sizes.
A further object is to provide in connection with a suitable casing having a bottom, a back, and side elements, the side elements being slotted, a plurality of slidable devices, adjustably mounted by means of screws or the like and provided with apertures for receiving tools and being adapted to carry designations indicating the kind or size of tool or implement mounted therein.
IVith the foregoing and otheriobjects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of elements hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a face view of the device, Fig. 2 is an edge View, or side view, thereof, Fig. 3 is a section taken transversely through the tool holding devices, and Fig. 4c is a detail of one of the last named devices, detached.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a casing comprising a vertical rear wall 10, a bottom wall 12, with side walls 14 and 15.
The side walls of the casing are provided with slots, the slots being of various lengths. Adjustable racks 16'are secured by means of screws 17 passing through the respective slots and into the ends of the racks, the
screws being tightened after the correct adjustment of said members is secured.
Each of the racks or implement holding devices is provided with a series of apertures, the apertures being of various sizes in the respective slidable and adjustable elements, and if desired varying in size in the same element. The apertures are designated 18, and it will be understood that the several adjustable elements may be shifted (in view of the relative lengths ofthe slots) in order that the face portions thereof may be visible. The face portions carry designations indicating the number of the drill or other tool or implement mounted in elements 16.
The advantages of the invention are apparent, and it is believed that no further description is necessary.
What I claim is- In a device of the class described, a casingv including a rear wall, a bottom wall, and side walls, the side walls being provided with slots parallelly arranged, a plurality of adjustable bars mounted in the casing and extending transversely thereof between the side elements and normally lying in parallel planes, each of the bars being pro-' vided with apertures for receiving tools and lmplements, and screws passing through the slots of the side walls and into the ends of the bars, the heads of the screws engaging the surface of the side walls and positively retaining the bars, said bars carrying desig-.
nations on one surface, and the relative length of the slots permitting the bars to be shifted in their normal planes for exposing to view the aforesaid designations.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
EDWARD WIKSTROM.
