BOTTLE CARRIER.
Application filed July 9,
This invention relates to devices adapted to be appliedto the neck of a bottle, thereby providing a hook or handle-whereby the bottle may be safely carried. I v
The objects of my invention are to provide such a device which is of extreme simplicity and which is, therefore, cheap to make which may be quickly snapped on to a bottle, or removed therefrom; which requires no adjustment or fastening thereto; and which is provided with a surface adapted to receive identification or other marks. 7 p
I attain these and other objects by the devices and arrangement illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. l is a side elevation showing my device as applied to a cream bottle ,Fig. 2 is a plan view of the device, removed from the bottle;
Fig. 3 is an end elevation thereof; and Fig. 4: is a perspective view thereof.
Similar numerals of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views. I a
i As readily seen in the drawings, my device is of extreme simplicity and comprlses a single piece of heavymetal, or othersnitable ma terial, bent to the form shown, and of any desired section. The material must be resilient enough to permit it to be sprung on to the neck of the bottle, and stiff enoughto clamp itself thereto and for the carrier hook to keep its shape under the weight of the bottle.
The bottle 1 is provided with a flange or enlargement 2, around the upper extremity of its neck 3. My improved carrier is applied to the neck 3 immediately below the said enlargement 2. I 1
My improved carrier comprises the integral bar or wire bent substantially as fol lows :The horizontal or base clamping hook 5 is bent to partially encircle the bottle neck 3. This arcuate portion extends from the end 6 to the bend 7 and is slightly more than a semicircle in extent, and is of substantially the same diameter, or of less diameter, than the neck 3 of the bottle. The vertical or car rying hook 8 also comprises a substantially arcuate part, extending from the bend 7 of the horizontal hook 5, on a curve'to its end 9,
which lies in contact with the upper face of 1928. Serial No. 291,201. I
the flange or enlargement 2 of the bottle, thus forming. a hook or. openloop whereby the bottle maybe carried.
. The upper surface of the carrying hook8 may conveniently be flattened, as at 10, to re 'ceive any identification marks or advertise ments desired. 1
My device is applied to a bottle by pressingthe ends 6 and 7, of the horizontal or clamping hook 5, against the bottle neck 3, below the flange 2, and thereby springing the hook 5 r open to cause it to snap on to the said neck.
firmly clamped in place on the bottle andris ready to beused to carrythe bottle.
' My improved bottle 'carrier,fitherefore,j
comprises a single piece of stiff, resilient material, such as spring steel or other metal,
bent to form two hooks 5 and 8, which lie in planes at right angles to each other, one of.
which (5) forms the clamp connecting it to the bottle, and holding the bottle neck firmly in place while it -'is being carried, and the other ,of. which (8) forms the handle by V which the bottle iscarried. The hook 8 lies diametrically over the hook 5, as clearly seen in Fig. 2.
Having, therefore, described my invention,-
what Iclaim is:
1. A bottle carriercomprising an integral piece of resilient material, bent to form two hooks, lying in planes at right-angles to each other, thefirst hook being arcuateiand of more than a semicircle between its ends and adapted to snap on to the neck of a bottle, the V I gles to each other, the first hook being adapted to clamp itself around the bottle neck and the second hook extending upward therefrom and over'the end of the bottle to form a handle therefor.
FELIX HOGBEBG.
