Description

UNITED sraasj Amar ISIDOR ROTH, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR T0 BENJAMIN,&JOHNES, A COR-V FFlE.
PORATION OF NEW JERSEY.
Hose sUrroR'rER.
Appiiefion lea June s,
ThisV invention relates f more particularly to hose supporters such as are applied to corsets, brassires and combination garments and depend therefrom to be attached `to the stockings. Such hose supporters are usually made adjustable in length, andit has been common to employ for this ,purpose buckles which present themselves more or less at the frontv of the hose supporter and are objectionable with light, thinv dresses inv that they protrude so'as to be unsightly and also cause undue friction and wear. y
The objects of this invention are tosecure a. hose supporter which shallbe longitudinally adjustable and yet present an unbroken extent of webbing at the front, with the adjusting means at the back of and concealed by said webbing; to thus secure an improved appearance andcover the adjustving means against rubbing upon vor wearing the Vouter garment or dress; to secure a stronger and more durable hose supporter, and to obtain other advantages andresults as may be brought out by the following description.
Referring tothe accompanying drawings, in which like numerals of reference designate the same parts throughout the several views,
Figure l is a front view of a hose supporter embodying my invention, with a por tion of the same broken away and showing part of a garment from which the hose supporter depends;
Figure 2 is a rear or inner view of the same;
Figure 3 isa longitudinal section on line 3 3, Figure l, and V Figure 4 is a detail view of a certain wire connecting member.
In the specific embodiment of the invention shown in said drawings, l indicates a lower edge portion of a garment from which y a hose supporter is adapted to depend, and
2 indicates a fabric loop projecting fromthe lower edge of the garment to receive the upper bar of a wire loop 3, to the lower bar of which the preferably elastic webbing 4 of the hose supporter is secured, as by looping around said bar and stitching at 5, see Figure 3. This webbingg4 extendsdownwardly to the desired length and is then turned rearwardly upward, forming an en d portion 6 to which is .stitched or otherwise suitably secured a piece of webbing 7 which other ordinary means? for the 1927. Serial No. 197,276.
is narrower than the front webbing 4.. This narrow rear webbing, which 'is preferably butnot necessarily elastic, extends upward and through a wire loop 8 the upper bar of which is held in the upper looped end of the front webbing 4 which is stitched as at 5, the lower bar of this wire loop 8 lying eXm posed at the rear of the vfront webbing 4.
After passing throughl said wire .loopl 8 the` loop 8. By sliding the buckle 10 up and down, obviously the end portion 6 of the front webbing is lowered and raised, respectively, and thusl the hose supporter lengthened and shortened accordingly.
At the same time, the narrow rear webbing 7, vbuckle l0, wire loop 8 and the joinings of all the parts, broad front webbing 74, as shown in Figure l, and not only a very'neat andpleasing appearance secured but also said parts behind the webbing 4 are protected against lcoming in contact with the dress or outer garments so as to wear the same orf-show through them in any way, as byl causing a protuberance,` It is also an advantage of are concealed behind the soV my iinprovedconstruction that the front and f rear webbings together strength to the hose more durable. Y v.
yIt will be understood that from thelower looped or doubled end of the main webbing 4 give increased supporter, and make 1t t is suspended ,any well-known form of stock- I have shown of the safety-pinv type, asillustrated'rnore clearlyr in Figure 4, 'and it should be noted that instead of the adjacent WireV loop 8 which I have described, any upper part of the narrow rear webbing 7 to slidably pass over may be employed. Various other details may be modified in manufacturing my improved hose supporter, by those skilled and scope of the invention, and I do not wish to be understood as-limiting myself except Vas required by the following Aclaims when.
j a stocking grip, of a front webbing extendconstrued in the light of the prior art. j
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
Y l. In a hose supporter, the combination of a stocking grip, a front webbing to be at-i tached at one end to a garment and having a slidable engagement with'said stocking grip and its other end portion lreturned toward the first-mentioned end, and a rear webbing adjustable in length connecting said returned end portion of the front webbing to the firstinentioned end.
2.- In a hose supporter, the combination ofy a stocking grip, av front webbing 'to be attached at one end to a garment having a slidable engagement with said stocking grip and its other end portion returned toward the first-mentioned end, and a rear webbing adjustable inlength connecting said returned end portion of the front webbing to said first-mentioned end, said rear webbing being, narrower than the front webbing so asV to be concealed thereby inuse.
3. In a hose supporter, the combination with means for' attachment to a garment, and astocking grip, of a front webbing eX- tending yfromr said attachingy means into slidable engagement with said stocking grip and having anend portion returned toward vsa-idfattachingmeans, of a rear webbing securedto said returned. end portion of the front .webbing and extending into slidable engagement with said attaching means and having a returned end, andan adjustable friction member on said rear webbing'be- "tween the ends of the front' webbing, said returned end of the rear webbing being secured to said adjustable member.
In a hose supporter, the combination with means for attachment to a garment, and
f the rear webbing being secured to said' adjustable member at the side thereof away from the fi'ont webbing and said adjustable member lying between the front and rear t wcbbings.
5. In a hosev with meansV for attachment to a garment, and a stocking grip, of a front webbing extending from-said attaching meansfinto lslidable engagement with said stocking grip and having an end portion returned toward said attaching means, of a rear webbing' secured to said returned end portion yof the front supporter, the A,conibiI-iation j webbing and extending yinto .slidable engagement with said attachingineans; and having a returned end, and an adjustable friction member on said rear webbing between the ends of the front webbing,'said returned end of the rear webbing being 'secured to said', adjustable member and said rearwebbing and friction member being narrower than the front webb-ing so as to be concealed there-l by inl use.
