UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LON P. MORGAN AND MAE C. MORGAN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
LINGERIE CLASP.
Application filed April 19, 1928. Serial N o. 271,246.
This invention relates to an improved his tener in the form of a duplex retainer, the same being particularly adapted for use in connection with wearing apparel and lin gerie, thereby permitting it to be conveniently entitled a lingerie clasp.
Briefly, the improved article comprises a particularly designed resilient clasp for lingerie straps including a snap fastener, to
gether with a combined safety pin.
Our principal object is to generally improve upon articles of this class by provid ing one of simplicity which may be easily manufactured and which is such in const-ruction as to render it inexpensive to both manufacturer and user, and highly efficient as a supporting and retaining device for wearing apparel.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a side elevation of the com plete clasp.
Figure 2 is a top plan View of the same, and
Figure 8 is a section taken approximately upon the plane of the line 88 of Figure 1.
In carrying out the invention we provide a structure which is characterized by two parts; namely, a clasp at and a safety pin 5, the two being made into one unit. The clasp is formed of a strip of resilient metal bent upon itself to provide spaced arms 6 adapted to embrace one or more lingerie straps. Portions of the metal forming the arm are struck inwardly to provide substantially semi-circular clips or tongues 7 and 8 respectively. The tongues 7 are on one arm and are struck out in pairs as shown better in Figure 3 and the tongues 8 are on the lower arm and are struck out at their center so as to dispose them between the tongues 7. A pair of complemental parts forming a snap fastener 9 is disposed between the free end portions of the arms and serve to removably hold a clasp in place.
The safety pin 5 is formed rigidly upon one of the arms 9. In doing this we provide clasp.
In practice the clasp 4: is placed upon a lingerie strap or shoulder straps, thus holding them together, the snap fastener being snapped closed, and the clips or tongues 7 and 8 serving to grasp the straps firmly.
Then the safety pin garment in an obvious manner.
fastened to the outer This provides a dependable and reliable fastener for wearing apparel.
The simplicity of the device is such as to render a more de ailed description unnecessary.
Minor changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts and materials, coming within the scope of the invention claimed may be resorted to if desired.
Having thus described the invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is As a new product of manufacture, a fastener of the class described, comprising a clasp formed from a strip of resilient metal bent upon itself to provide spaced arm adapted to normally spring apart. the intermediate portions of the arms having retaining tongues struck out therefrom and into cooperative relationship, a snap fastener carried by the free end portions of said arms, a safety pin comprising a pin portion and retention coil, said coil being disposed adjacent one end of said clasp, a bracket carried by said one end and connected with said coil, and a keeper carried by the opposite end of the clasp cooperable with the pointed end of the pin.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures.
LON P. MORGAN. MAE C. MORGAN.
