SLIDE BUCKLE.
Application filed April 28, 1927. Serial No. 187,286.
My invention relates to an improvement in slide-buckles primarily designed to be used on the shoulder-straps of overalls, a slidebuckle of this type being shown in United States Patent No. 1,431,661, granted October 10, 1922, on an application filed by me. The
ing my improved buckle applied to the shoul der-strap of an overall;
Fig. 2 is a View thereof in vertical longitudinal section on the line 22 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a corresponding View showing a different mode of applying the web and show ing the rocking of the slide-bar ofthe frame,
due to placing the strap under draft;
Fig. 4 is a detached view of the buckle in elevation; c
Fig. 5 is an enlarged view thereof in transverse section on the line 5-5 of Fig. 4; and
Fig. 6 is a view of the buckle in longitudinal section on the line 6-6 of Fig. 5.
In carrying out my invention, I produce, preferably from a single length of. wire,.;a substantially-rectangular buckleframe having two parallel end-bars 10 and two parallel side-bars 11, the latter being symmetrically flattened in the plane of the frame on opposite sides of their centers to form strap-grips 12, the inner edges of which project inward into the frame. Upon the end-bars 10 of'the frame I mount a wire slide-bar 13 struck up so as to form oppositely-extending proje'c tions or teeth 14 substantially located in the plane of the frame or'projections being arranged, as shown, in pairs. Such "specific arrangement is not essential, though it is essential that the teeth shall be formed so as to lie with the central portions of the flattened strap-grips 12 of the buckle-frame. At its ends the bar is formed with eyes 17 embrac ing the end-bars 10 of the frame and enough larger in internal diameter than thediameter 7 thereof to permit the bar to slide upon the I faces large enough for being said end-bars, as welljas to rock thereupon when the strap 18 is threaded through the buckle and placed under tension, the strap being provided in the usual manner with abut ton-loop l9.
When the strap is threaded through the buckle in the usual manner, it is deflected thereby,as shown in Figs.'2 and 3, and a bight secured upon it, this bight being heightened by the inwardly-projecting portions'of the strap-grips 12, as well as by the projections 14 of the side-bar in the plane of the buckle. By providing both of the side-bars of the frame with flattened strap-grips, the
. buckle may be applied to the slide with either of the parallel side-bars of its frame uppermost, which is a matter of considerable con venience in applying the buckles to the shoulder-straps of overalls.
The flattened. strap-grips 12 provide surstamped, if desired, with names or, other escriptive material, or with ornamental designs.
I claim I 1. A slide-buckle, comprising a substantial ly-rectangular wire-frame having, two parallel side-bars'and two parallel end-bars, the
said side-bars being symmetrically-flattened V on opposite sides of their centers to'form strap-grips projecting into the frame in the plane thereof; and a wire slide-bar slidably mounted upon the said end-bars of the frame and bent to' form a central high-point and twolateral high-points, the latter substantially registering with the central portions of the said strap-grips of the side-bars and provided with oppositely-projecting integral teethlocated in the plane of the frame to coaet with the said strap-grips.
I 2. A slide-buckle, comprising a substantially-rectangular wire frame having two parallel side-bars and two parallel end-bars, both of the said side-bars being symmetricab ly-flattened on opposite sides of their centers bars, both of the side-bars being symmetii cally flattened on opposite sides of their centers to form strap-grips projecting into the frame in the plane thereof, and a slidebar slidably mounted on the end-bars of the 5 frame and bent on opposite sides of its center to form high-points substantially registering with the central portions ofthe said strapgrips, and teeth formed by swaging the said i slide-bar so as to project therefrom for ecoaction withthe said strap-grips. I 1
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification. I
