Description
A. H. mwmuz LIP STICK HOLDER Filed Dec. 10, 1926 Elli npnlleatlonilled December to, was. Serial nosiaaeia This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in lip stick holders, and the primary object thereof is to provide novel means, which can be easily and quickly operated, for effecting movementof the lip stick into and out of the holder, and for also reliably retainihgathe lip stick within the holder, so as to prevent accidental movement 7 thereof when theholder is being carried or is lit not in use.
The invention still turtheriaims-to'provide means of the character mentioned which of simple and economical construction and which does not detract from the appearance oil the usual tubular or cylindrical holder.
' in the drawings Fig. l is an elevation of the holder in closed position of the parts;
Fig. 2 is a section on line 2-2 of Fig. l; Fig. 3 is a view of the holder in partly open position; and a Fig.4 is a section on line H of Fig. 1'. ln proceeding in accordance with the present invention, the holder is composed of a cylindrical or tubular body 1 which has a closed bottom 2. The body, 1 is formed with an elongated slot 3 which extends axially thereof as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. A socket member 4 of cup-shape is employed to receive the lip stick L, the socket having an inwardly struck teat 5 for engagement with the lip stick to retain the latter in the sb'cket. The socket or thimhle t is provided with a egs of which extend through openings prov'ded therefor in the thimble, the free ends of the legs being turned outwardly at 7 so as'to hold the loop 6 in position. ll. cap 8 is providedand which is slidably engaged with the open upper end of. the holder 1 and which is formed with an arm 9 integral therewith,
.the arm 9 being providedwith an opening re ceiving loopti, whereby to form a hinged or pivotal connection between thethimble 4 and the'arm 9. The loop 6 is freely slidable along the length of the slot 3." I 7 With the parts in the position of Figs. I and 2, and in orderto project the lip stick end and an open end, a closure for slidable in the body,
able on the body,
out ol the holder, the cap 8 and its arm 9 are slid outwardly from the holder so as to disengage the cap from the holder, whereupon the cap and its armare swung outwardly, as shown in Fig. 3 to permit the armji to be moved along the slot so as to thereby cause movement of the thimble and therewith the lipstick, axially of the housing, so as to pro-' ject the lip stick out of the holder. The arm 9 can be swung downwardly to its extreme of movement thereby to engage and lie parallel to the holder,.whi ch thus enables the arm to be grasped by the fingers of the user so as to provide a longer handle for the holder.
lit will be seen that the arm 9, when the partsare in closed position, "conforms to and lies flat against the body, thus not detracting from the usual appearance of cylindrical lip stick holders and at the same time providing a compact arrangement.
Having thus described my invention what it claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a lip stick holder, a tubular body having a longitudinalslot and having a closed I the open end slidable on the body, a lipstick carrier a loop secured to the carrier and extending through and being s1idable in the slot of the body, and an arm carried by the closure and having an opening through which the hingedly. connect'the arm to the carrier.
2. In a lip stick holder, a tubular body having a closed end, an open end and a longitudinal slot, a closure for the open end slid a lip stick carrier slidable in the body, an arm carried by the closure :and a connection between the arm and carrier extendlng through the slot and secured to a side of the carrier and hingedlymounting the arm, said slot terminating adjacent to the open end of the body and having said terminal engageable with the connection to limit outward movement of the carrier; p
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
