WINDOW-CURTAIN FITTING.
' Application led October 13, 1927. Serial No. 225,937.
`This inventionrelates to Shade fixtures and more particularly to window shade containers...` i
@Af primary object of the invention is to `provide a device of this character to prevent dust settling and accumulating on shade Vrollers and to provide supporting means for retaining the shade roller and protector in position so thateither one or both may be readily removed When desired without taking out any screws or nails. "Another object of the invention isto provide a supporting bracket for the roller for supporting both the shade roller and. its Y container, and which is simple and cheap to In carryingout'these objects, the invention is susceptible lof4 a wide ran e of modification without departing from t 1e spirit or sacrificing any oftheadvantages ofthe claimed invention ;A there being yshownV in the drawf ings for illustratlve `purposes a preferredy and practical form, in which:
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of the upper portion of a window with lthis improved fixture shown applied;
Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section taken on line 2-2 ofFig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a detail longitudinal section taken on line 3-3 ofFig.2;
Fig. 4 isa perspective group view of the end cap showing the parts separated` and in juxtaposition ready forv assembly; and I Fig. 5 is a detailvtransverse section taken on line 5-5 of Fig. 1. Y i
In the embodiment` illustrated the shade roller container 1is constructedof telescoping sections 2 and'3 which are U-shaped in cross section and provided along their edges with reinforcing beads 4 those of one section being designed to telescopewith those of the other.
The inner faces of these sections2 and 3 are provided at theouter ends thereof with nibs 5'which are designed to interlockingly engage with apertures 14 formed at spacedintervals inthe periphery of a portionV of the4 end cap as will be hereinafter fully described.
Two of these end caps 10-'areprovided,`
one for each end of the roller and which are,
Jof course, made rights `andileftsfor this purpose. e
`.Eaclfrof these vend caps comprises anattaching plate 11 here shown rectangular in form with a keyhole slot 12 formed centrally therein for 4engagement with a headed. stud` This platef driven in the window frame. as is` shown for supporting drapery rods when such are f found desirable. lower end intoa substantially cylindrical member lformedby an extension strip car This plate 11 merges at its Y ried by the` lower end ofthe plate 4and which i extends downward for .a short line and is then curved and turned inwardly, as is-shown clearly in Fig. 4.
A plate 16 is 'carried' by the edge ofthe straight portionof thestripl and is bent at rightangles thereto forminga lclosure `for the member 15.- `Thisplate l-.has an aperture 17 therein which is designed to receive the pmtle `7 of the shade roller `6, it ofcourse of these intles 7 at each end.` v i `being Vunderstoodthat this roller 6v has kone This p ate 11, strip 15 and Lend plate 16 are n struck out from a single sheet metal blank and bent into the form shown. An endA closure for the member 15 is here'shown inthe form of a cap 20 shaped to conform to this y member 15 and which has a transversely eX- tending slit 21 designedwhen the parts are assembled, to receiveithereinthe edgeof the straight portion of the Amember 15 at its junction with theV plate 11, as is shown clearly in' Fig. 3. f
`Inthe, assembling of the parts of this device, the cap 20is engaged` around the bendable strip forming the member 15r with the slit 21 insa-id'cap straddling the extension strip 15a at its junction with thev plate 11, as is shown clearly inFig. 3. The member 15 is provided with a plurality ofapertures 14 designed `to receive teats or nibs 5 carried by the outer ends of the container. sections 2 and 3 as is shown clearly in Fig. 3. ',Theends of the container sections 2 and 3 are inserted between the member 15 and the flanges ofthe cap 20 as is shown clearly in Figs. 2 and 3.
`V-hen so inserted the nibs 5 enteringthe apertures y14 will securely hold the rod container 1 engaged withV the members 10. The shade roller 6 with the shade attached thereto is then inserted within the container 1 with 'the frame F, near opposite corners thereof as .pintles 7 at the opposite ends ofthe roller i enteringthe apertures 17, as shown in Fig. 3. In the use of this lixture screws orl other headedelements 25 are inserted in the window y110 y Y'.
shown clearly in Fig. 1, and the plates 1Q are engaged with-said elements by passing the elements through the keyholeslot 12. It is understood that the curtain shade and .roller are first inserted inuthe apertures 17 of the.r brackets inthe 'manner "above set forth and the brackets then hung` over the elements as described. Vhile this is the preferred way of mounting this lixture, obviously the bracke: ets may be lirst hung and then the casings l inserted therein if preferred.
.Itwill thus be seen that when a curtain or shade ishung in this manner thatthe shade on theroller will be-fully. protected against dust and the like and that thecasings 1 may be` ornamented, ifv desired,vl to present an vattraetiveiv appearance or more orless plain, at the willothenser.
i -Withoutfurther description it is thought kthat the features and advantages of the in-V curved strip `with a removable cap encircling n carried thereby,
and State of (')hio said strip and telescopically engaged therewith, and a shade protecting casing with its ends adapted to be received between said y circular strip and .the cap. y
2. A bracketfor supporting a shade receiving tubular casing comprising an attaching plate with a depending curved strip acap for encircling said strip and having a slot extending transversely therethroughto adapt'the cap to straddle the attaching plate, the cap and the Strip being adapted to receive between them one end ot the tubular` casing, and meunscarried by the brackets `to receivea pintle ofthe shaderoller. Y A z 3. A shade bracket comprisingr an attaching plate having a keyhole slot therein, a forwardly and upwardly curved' strip `depending from the lower edge of" said plate, a plate extended at right anglesgto the^ attachlng plate and f orminga closure for one'end of the curved strip, a cap adaptcd'to encircle Seid strip, the cap and strip formingfmeans to reeeive between them, the ond of a curtain Shade f enclosing casing. l
