The present nvention relates to improvements in buttons and has reference more particularly to a separable button, that comprises a base and a head, that are detachably i secured together, whereby said button may be used `temporarily in the demonstration of dresses, gowns or suits, the buttons being` used in lieu of pins and the like.

One `of the important objects of the pres engagement with the usual buttons sewed onV the 4waist band of the trousers on the inner side thereof.

In use, a piece'of fabric-A is disposed over the front side of the base l and the'threaded shank 2, a split ring 8 being disposed around the fabric and the shank 2, to partially retain 'the fabric around the shank. The

fabric covered shank 2 is then threaded into the sleeve 6 and socket 5 of the head 4.

Thus the material covering the shank will 4be positively clamped between the shank and the Vsocket and collar thus securely assembling the button in position on the fabric and thus the button 'may be used in lieu of the pins or otherrfastening elements, while a dress or gown is being tried on.

Theseparable button can be readily and easily assembled or disassembled without injuring the fabric, and furthermore the button can be used to properly support a shirt upon the body of the wearer and to this end the tail portion of the shirt is vclamped between the parts of the button with the base on the outside face of the shirt and with the, apertured lug at the top, so that said lug may be engaged over the adjacent button on the inside of the waist band of the trousers as is readily closed.

It will thus be seen from the foregoing description that ll have provided a separable button construction that is simple in construction, inexpensive, yet strong and durable and always positive and ecient in carrying out the purposes for which it isdesigned.
