UNITED STATES ROBERT 'W BANKS, 0F EL DORADO, ARKANSAS.
GARMENT-HANGER ATTACHMENT.
Application flled August 23, 1926. Serial No. 131,062.
This invention relates to garment -hangers and the primary object of the invention is to provide a combined coat hanger and advertis ing device.`
Another object ofthe invention is to provide novel means for associating an advertising card with a conventional coat hanger whereby tailoring and like establishments will be enabled to advertise their business to their trade.
A. further obj ect of the invention is the pro-4 vision of an advertising card having an opening to permit the card to be slipped over the usual Supporting hook of a coat Ahanger for embracing the body of the hanger at the central portion thereof so that the card will be displayed at the neck portion `of a garment when the garment is placed on the body of the hanger.
A further ob] ect of the invent-ion is to providemeans for securingthe body portions of the advertising card together to prevent accidental displacementl thereof from oit' of the coat hanger.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a combined coat hanger and advertising device which will be simple and easy to manufacture and which can be placed upon the market at a very low cost. Y
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts, as'ivill be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which drawing Figure 1 is a front elevation of the improved device.
views, the letter A generally indicates a garment hanger and B the advertising card.
The hanger A is of any preferred conventional eonstruction and as shown in the drawing I have illustrated a coat hanger of the wire type. The same includes the usual supporting hook 5, the divergin'g arms 6 and the connecting straight rod 7. The arms 6 can be utilized for supporting a coat while the rod'7 can be utilized for supporting trousers or the like. i
`The card B utilized for advertsing purposes can' be constructed from a suitable blank of card board, cloth, sheet metal, Celluloid or fthe like. As shown the same includes a rec` tangular bodyy 10 which canibe folded transversely thereof along a line 11 adjacent to one end of the body. This defines a front body portion 12 and a rear attaching portion 13. The blank is provided with an enlarged opening Li at the transverse line 11 to permit the card lo be associated With the hanger as lwill be later described. The port-ion 12 of the card receives the advertising matter as indicated by the reference character 15 which can be on one or both sides.
In applying the card B to the conventional Imager' A the hook is placed through the opening 111 and the card is brought down over the arms 6 of the hanger. The portion 13 of the card is now folded against the portion 12 and is secured thereto in any desired way such as by a suitable adhesive or fastener. As shown Wire staples 16 are utilized for this purpose.
The card engages the upper portion of the hanger at the center thereof and thus the card can be readily seen when a garment is placed on the hanger.
From the foregoing description it can be seen that I have provided a simple advertising device for conventional coat hangers 'which can be readily associated therewith with a minimum amount of time and effort.
Changes in detail may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of this invention, as defined by the appended claims.
, What I claim as new is:
1, In combination, a coat hanger including a supporting body and a hook, of an advertising device including a rectangular blank of sheet material having a transverse line adjacent one end thereof defining an advertising portion and an attaching portion, the blank also having an opening at said transverse line for receiving the hook of the hanger, the attaching and advertising portions embracing the opposite sides of the hanger, and fasteners for connecting the said portions together.
2. In combination, a coat hanger including a supporting body and a hook, of an advertising device including a fiat blank of sheet material folded on a transverse defining an 5 attaching) portion and an advertising portion, the lank also having an openin at said transverse line for receiving the hoo of the.
hanger, the. attaching and advertising portions embracing the opposite sides of the hanger, and means connecting the advertising and attaching portions together below the body. Y
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ROBERT W. BANKS.
