DRESS FORM.
Application filed August 19, 1920. Serial No. 404,514.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RALPH H. KRAMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Dress Form; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of the invention is to provide a device which will more effectively display a garment than the devices commonly in use for this purpose.
A further object is to provide an article suitable for use in displaying ladies dresses, muslin wear, gowns, etc.
A still further object is to provide a device for the purpose specified, which shall comprise a form of papier macho with a thin coating of plaster of Paris, finished in flesh colour, and to be made in different sizes, for use in displaying ladies, messes and childrens garments.
A still further object is to provide a form to be made of the material indicated, or other suitable material, and including an upper rounded top portion comprising a block to which the standard or support may be readily secured, this support being in turn mounted on a stand, of usual construction, to which it is adjustably secured.
Nit-h the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of elements hereinafter described and claimed. In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the device.
Figure 2 is a view partly in elevation and partly in vertical section.
Figure 3 is a view of the article, with a garment draped thereon.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view of the bust section.
Figure 5 is a rear view of the bust section, and
Figure 6 is a cross sectional view through the bust section.
In carrying out my invention I provide a form per so made of papier mache or the like and designated 10, this form bemg covered with a thin coating of plaster of Paris,
tinted in flesh color. This coating is designated 12.
The article is preferably of about the form shown, the size and proportions varying according to the use to which the form is to be put. The neck portion is designated 15, the
bust portion 16, and the. upper portion to which the support is to be secured is shown at 17, and comprises a block with a rounded or convex upper surface.
Secured to the under side of this element 17 is a plate 19, adapted to be connected with the block by means of screws or the like, this plate being mounted on the upper end of a supportingbracket, comprising a steel rod bent into the form shown and having connection with a socket element 20- with an internal Having thus described the invention, what I claim is A display form having a form member, a'
neck portion and a bust portion extending forwardly substantially at an angle thereto and having shoulder portions above which said neck portions extend, said neck portion being hollow and having a lateral wall at the upper extremity thereof and disposed above said shoulder portions, a supporting element secured at one end to said wall, the other end of said element serving as an attaching means for engagement vwith a support, both of said ends being substantially on the longitudinal axis line of the neck portion, and 'said supporting means having a laterally offset grasping portion projecting therefrom relatively close to said wall beyond the rear of the form member so as to project through a displayed article.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
RALPH HENRY KRAMER.
