- Biind-S top. No.l67,815.
Patented'Sept.14,1875.

INVENTOR \flttorney NFETERS. PHOTO-LITHDGRAPHEIRUWISHINGTDN D c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE WILLIAM WRIGHT, LINCOLN, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN BLIND-STOPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.'] 67,815. dated September 14, 1875; application filed April 1, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WLLLIAM WRIGHT, of Lincoln, in the county of Logan and in the State of Illinois, havein vented certain new and useful Improvements in Looks for Window-Blinds; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawin gs, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
My invention relates to that class of blindlocks or blind-slat adjusters in which the slatrail connecting the pivoted slats may be held in different positions, so as to hold the slats at various angles; and the, nature of my invention consists in the novel arrangement of a spring-hook or catch to lock the fastener when the slats are closed, as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a windowblind with fastener embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section of the same.
A represents the frame of a window-blind; B B, the pivoted slats therein, and O the rod or rail connecting the same. On the slat-rail O is fastened a metal plate, D, which is deeply corrugated, as shown,to form hollow projections a a. On the bottom rail of the frame A is fastened a wire spring, G, which is bent in the con ter, forming alatch-arm, I), the ends then coiled, forming looped or coiled springs 01 d, and the extreme ends or points inserted and fastened in the rail, as'shown. The arm I) of the spring enters between the projections a a, and holds the rail and slats in any desired position.
When the slats are closed and the arm b enters between the two lowest projections a, a spring hook or catch, h, attached to the rail, enters the lowest hollow projection, and locks the arm in it, so as to prevent the slats from hein g forcibly opened from the outside.
Having thus fully described my invention,
what-I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The spring hook or catch H, in combination with the corrugated plate D, having hollow projections a a, and spring G, having coils d d, and bent arms b, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claimthe foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 8th day of March, 1875.
' WILLIAM WRIGHT.
