Description

July 24, 1928. 1,678,055 'J. c. BUECHLER CHECK BOOK CLAMP Filed Nov. 26, 1926 Patented July 24, 1928.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH C. BUECHLER, 0F HAGUE, NORTH DAKOTA.
CHECK-BOOK CLAMP.
Application filed November 26, 1926. Serial No. 150,884.
My invention more especially ject of the same is relates to book binding, and to leaf holders; and the 0bto produce a device for holding back the used stubs in a check book when writing new checks or posting the old stubs.
\Vith the above and other objects in View,
my invention consists in the combination and arragement of parts hereinafter described and claimed, it
bein understood that, within the scope of what is claimed,
changes may be ment shown without dc;
spirit of the invention.
In the drawings:
made in the precise embodinirting from the Figure 1 is a perspective View of a check book held open by my invention.
Figure 2 Figure 3 is a plan view is a side View of Figure 1.
of my invention.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, my invention comprises a single strand of resilient wire indicated generally by the reference character being 1, the said strand bent medially its ends as at 2 so as to loop being flared outward sponding intermediate por ly from its corretion, as 3, so as to fall laterally outside of the same, as clearly shown in Figure 3, and normally converging towards the common plane of the intermediate portions, the said ends being also curved outwardly from said common plane as at 5 so as to facilitate the ent rance of the check check stub as shown in Figures stubs 6 into the said loops 4, whereby the said check stubs 6 are firmly held between the ends of the loops and the spaced wires 3. The said medial portion of the wire is also bent in a direction at right angles to the common plane of the intermediate portions 3 so as to form a thumb hold 7.
In the use of my invention, the device is positioned over the used check stubs of a 1 and 2, with the thumb hold 7 outwardly the said stubs, as more clearly shown in Figure 2, whereby the thumb of the person using the device mayact to hold the said stubs back out of the way by pressing on the said thumb hold 7. a v
I claim:
A device of the kind described compri ing a vsingle strand of resilient wire bent medially its ends so as to have its intermediate portions extending in a common plane in spaced and parallel relation, the medial portion of the strand being bent at right angles to the common plane of the intermediate portions, each of the terminal portions of the strand being bent in the form of a clamping loop, each loop'being in a plane at right angles to the common plane of the intermediate portions and normally closing upon the said common plane, the end of each loop being flared outwardly from its corresponding intermediate portion so as to fall laterally outside of the same, and being also curved outwardly from the said common plane so as to facilitate the entrance of used check stubs into the said clamping loops.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
