WATCH-BRACELET END HOOK.
Application filed February 11, 1928. 'Serial 1No. 253,640.
construction of this" character, and one wherein all of the parts are held related by use of a single pin or the like.
Further the invention aims to provide a device of this type in which the parts are compactly related and can be eas ly and quickly assembled, and are oi: posltive and certain operation.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a top plan view of the invention;
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view, parts being partly broken away;
Figure 3 is a side elevation and Figures 4 and 5 are sections on lines i 1 and 5-5 of Figure 1.
In proceeding with the present invention, a hook member 1 is provided having a back 2 and a hook 3 at one end thereof, while the side portions of its opposite end are flanged to provide sides 4. A latch member 5 has a tongue 6 engageable with the hook 3 and has a hollowshank 7 A connecting member 8 is employed and is received in the adjacent end of the bracelet band B being suitably soldered thereto, the bracelet band being of hollow form, so as to receive the member 8 therein. The member 8 is formed with a pair of spaced knuckles 9 between which latter is received the looped base 9 of a substantially V-shaped spring, one end 10 of the spring engaging the back 2 of the hook member, while its other end 11 engages the latch member 5 so as to tension the latter. A pin 13 is passed through the sides 4 of the hook member. through the sides 14 of the shank T of the latch member, through the knuckles 9 and through the base 9 of the V-shaped spring. Vith this structure, it will be noted that the single pin 13 not only connects all the parts but provides a pivotal mounting for the latch member 5. The connecting member is preferably solderedto the interior of the bracelet or band B, whereby it will be noted that but a single assembling operation is necessary, namely the insertion of the pin 13 as above described, followed by heading of its ends at 15 to the sides 4 of the hook member.
It will also be noted that the spring is held by and between the knuckles in addition to being held by the pin, thus providing asecure relationship of the parts and at the same time acompact assemblage.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure 'by Letters Patent is lvln a watch bracelet end hook, a hook member having spaced sides, a latch member having a hollow shank received between said sides of the hook member and having a tongue engageable with the hook of the hook member, a. connecting member having a pair of spaced knuckles,a bracelet having a hollow end receiving the connecting meniber therein and secured thereto, a substantially V-shaped spring in the hollow shank having a loop at its base received in the space between the knuckles and'having its ends engaged with the back of the hook member and with the tongue to tension the latter, and a pin slidably extending through the sides of the hook member, through the shank of the latch member, through the knuckles of the connecting member and through the loop of the spring to connect all of the parts and to providea pivot for the latch member.
2. In a watch bracelet end hook, a hook member having spaced sides, a. latch member having a hollow shank received between said sides of the hook member and having a tongue engage-able with the hook of the hook member, a connecting member having a pair of spaced knuckles a bracelet band secured to the connecting member, a substantially V-shaped spring in the hollow shank received in the space between the knuckles and having its ends engaged with the back of the hook member and with the tongue to tension the latter, and a pin slidably extending through the sides of the hook member and shank, through the knuckles of the connecting member and through the angle of the spring to connect all of the parts and to provide a pivot for the latch member.
In a watch bracelet end hook, a hook member having spaced sides, a latch member having sides received between the sides of the hook member and having a tongue to engage the hook of the hook member,a bracelet carried connecting member having a pair of spaced knuckles, a spring having a part received in the space between said knuckles and having parts engaging the hook member and the latch member to tension the latter, anda pin slidably extending through the sides of the hook and latch members and through the knuckles of the connccting member and through said part of the spring to connect all'of the said parts and to tension the latch member.
4. In a watch bracelet end hook, a hook member having spaced sides, alatch member having a tongue to engage the hook of the hook member and having narts received between the sides of the book -member, a bracelet carried connecting member, said member having av loop-like part, a spring member having a loop-like part and having parts engaging the hook member and the latch member to tension the latter, and a pin slidably extending through each of the sides of the hook member and said parts of the latch member and through the looplike parts of the connecting member and of the spring member so as to connect all of the said members.
5. In a watch bracelet end hook, a hook member, a latch member having a part cooperating with the hook of the hook member, a bracelet carried connecting member having pin engaging means, a spring to tension the latch member, and a pin slidably extending through the hook member and through the latch member to pivotally connect same and through said pin engaging means of the connecting member to secure same to the hook member and also engaged with the spring to provide a mounting for the latter.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
FREDERICK W. NITTEL.
