The object of this invention is to devise a novel construction and arrangement of a compact retainer whereby the conventional compact can be detachably connected with the strap of a wrist watch or to any desired portion of the clothes of thewearer so that itwill not be necessary for women to carry a bag to contain their vanity appliances;

In order that the clamping member 9, when in clamping position may be readily released, I provide a releasing member 12 which may be dispensed within'some case arising in practice.
