AUSTINL. BLACK, or-coLoR Do smms, COLORADO. v
SLEEVE Holman.
' Application filed November 20, 1926, Serial No. 149,717.
This invention relates to holders primarily adapted to retain a garment sleeve in position While putting on an outer garment.
The invention comprehends means engageable with the garment sleeve and thumb of the wearer to accomplish this purpose.
More specifically stated the invention contemplates a locking element carried by the holder adapted to lock the holder upon the sleeve. 7
WVith the above and other objects in View, the invention further consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing,
and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing: v
Figure 1 is illustrative of the manner by means of which the invention is called into active use. f
Figure 2 is a perspective of the invention per se.
Referring to the drawing in detail, where-' in like characters of reference denote corresponding parts thereference character 10 indicates a length of spring wire bent upon itself at an intermediate point in its length to provide an enlarged looped portion 11.
The remaining lengths of said wire are then disposed in superimposed relation and gradually disposed outwardly an appreciable distance to inwardly offset portions 12 which terminate to provide closed loops 13. The
inner surfaces of each of the loops 13 are provided with notched cutout portions 14,
the purpose of which will be presently apparent. I
In carrying out the invention the enlarged loop 11 is received upon the thumb 'of'the 40 user and adapted to abut that portion of the hand intersecting with the thumb. A por' tion of'the garment sleeve is then passed between the closed loops tance. A ring member 15 slidably mounted upon the arms of the holder is then slid thereon toward the closed loops 13 to bring about active engagement of the notched portions upon the inner surfaces of the said loops with that portion of the sleeve therebetween. The outward tension of the arms of the wire will retain the keeper or ring 15 against displacement.
The invention will prove of great value to persons having difliculty in putting on outer garments when the sleeves of the under garments ride upwardly within the sleeves of the outer garmentsf Upon retracting the keeper or ring 15 the invention may be readily removed'and the sleeves released in the positions at which they were originally engaged. 7 r j g The invention is susceptible of various chan es in its form, proportions andminol? details of construction, and theright is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thusdescribed is claimed is:
vA sleeve holder comprising a member bent upon itself to provide an elongated loop adapted to receive a finger or thumb, arms outwardly flared from the loop, said arms being inwardly offset adjacent the extremities thereof, rings projected in parallelism from the offsets, the adjacent faces of the ring being radially notched to provide gripping surfaces, and a ringslidably mounted upon the arms being adapted to contract the rings for active use when shifted in juxtaposition thereto.
In testimony whereof-I affix my signature.
