' 1,481,297" A. MCKELLAR I FINGER RING GUARD Filed Nov. 29. 1922 Patented Jan. 22, 1924.
ALEXANDER MGKELLAR, OF GREENOCK, SCOTLAND.
FINGER-RING GUARD.
Application filed. November 29, 1922. Serial No. 604,116.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER MoKEL- LAB, of 27 Gathcart Street, Greenock, Scotland, have invented a certain new and useful Finger-Ring Guard, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has for its object to provide a device for reducing the size of finger rings so that they can be adapted to suit different sizes of fingers.
In carrying out my invention, I provide two small arms pivoted in the centre and which form a kind of cross. On the reverse end of each corner there is a turned up portion which constitutes a catch to engage with shank of ring. I also provide a similar catch to lock the device in the position adjusted to the size of ring required.
In order that my invention may be properly understood and readily carried into effect,I have hereunto appended one sheet of drawings, of which all the figures being drawn on an enlarged scale.
Figure l is a view illustrating the device. Figure 2 is an inverted plan showing the device applied to a ring.
Figure 3 is a plan view of Figure 2. Referring" to the drawings, A and A are the two plates pivoted at P, while B are the turned-up portions on the reverse end of the respective corners which engage the shank of the ring F. C are the projecting parts on the body of the plates A and A which form the catch to look the device to the shank of the ring F.
When to be used, the device is slipped inside the ring F with the projections C turned outwards accommodating themselves to any thickness or width of band. The two plates A, A are closed after which the 40 turned-up portions B engage with the device and thus retain the same in the adjusted position.
Claim.
A finger ring guard for reducing the size 6 of a finger ring, comprising two plates each having ring gripping prongs turned up from opposite sides thereof at their ends, said plates being pivoted together at their central portion, one of said plates, also having projections on opposite sides between the pivot point and the ends for bending over the other plate to lock the gripping prongs against the loop of the ring.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature 56 in presence of two witnesses.
ALEXANDER MoKELLAR.
