M invention relates to picker-stick checks and it is an object of the invention to mount the check so that the picker-stick will bear against the entire width of the strap at the 6 limits of its stroke instead of merely against the upper edge thereof.

Another object of the invention is to provide means for accurately adjusting the length of the stroke of the icker-stick and to provide two methods ,0 attachment of the strap which serves to limit the move ment of the picker-stick so that two types of straps may be used all as will be hereinaf ter more particularly described and claimed.

' In the -drawings reference character 10 indicates a lay and 11 a picker-stick of ordinary construction. A hanger or bracket 12 depends from the lay 10 and to which is secured by means of a bolt 13 a pair of flat .plates 14 each of which is provided with a slot 15 of substantially uniform width at one end and being greatly enlarged at its oppoenlarged end of the slot is ,rolled over to form a substantially cylindrical pivot 16 about which ashort strap 17 may be fastened by means of bolts 18 to the ends of a flexible strap 19 of woven fabric or the like as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

The plates 14 are secured to the hanger 12 in a manner to permit their bein adjusted at the roper angle to permit the strap 19 to bear its full weight against the pickerstick when the same reaches its limit of movement in either direction thereby pre venting the strap from stretching a greater amount at the upper edge than at the bottom and becomlng unfit for further use. I t will be obvious to those skilled in the art that various changes may be made in my device without departing from the spiritof my invention, and I, therefore, do not limit myself to what is shown in the drawings and described in the specification, but only as set forth inthe appended claims.

Having thus fully described my said 1nvention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

- 1. A picker-stick check comprising a hanger, a. pair of fiat, slotted'plates secured to said hanger at an angle of 90 degrees to the picker-stick when at the ends of 1ts strokes, said slotted plates being angularly adjustable relative to each other, and a flexible check-strap enclosing said picker-stick and havin its ends pivoted to one end of each of said slotted plates, substantially as set forth. e I

3. A picker-stick check comprising a'pair of plates provided with longitudinally arranged slots, a fastening bolt extending through said slots for securing the plates in fixed angular longitudinally adjusted position, the extremities of said plates being rolled over to form a substantially cylindrical pivot, and a flexible strap having each end connected to said plates adjacent said 1 pivot, said strap having a portion extending through said slot and having a knob at its tially as set forth.
