Description

P. LAMBERT.
LOOM ATTACHMENT.
(Application filed Dec. 19 1899.)
(No Model.)
STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PETER LAMBERT, oE FALL RIVER, MAssAcHUsET'rs.
LOOM ATTACH M ENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 644,984, dated March 6, 1900. Application filed December 19, 1899. Serial No, 740,897. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER LAMBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fall River, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Loom Attachments; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in loom attachments, and especially to the provision of means whereby the wearing of the picker-stick and the strap is reduced to a minimum, the essential features of the invention being the provision of a collar which is clamped by means of a' set-screw to a picker-stick, a suitable slide being interposed between the stick and the set-screw carried by the collar, the upper end of the slide forming a rest on which the picker-strap rests as it is actuated longitudinallyin operating the picker-stick.
The invention relates, further, to the novel construction, arrangement, and adaptation of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form part of this application, and in which drawings similar letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my device held to a picker-stick of a loom with the picker strap resting upon the upper curved end of the slide; and Fig. 2 is a vertical central sectional view through the picker stick, the collar, the slide, and picker-strap. Fig. 3 is a detail view.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the picker-stick of ordinary construction employed in looms, and B is a picker-strap which surrounds the picker-stick, as shown in the drawings. Mounted on the picker-stick at any suitable location is a collar D, having a setscrew E therein, and interposed between one face of said picker-stick and the face of the collar carrying the set-screw is a slideF, havin g a head 1 which is preferably oval-shaped on its upperend, and said head extends laterally beyond the faces of said stick a suflicient distance so that the lower parallel edges of the picker-strap will rest upon said curved surface ofthe head as the strap reciprocates back and forth. Said slidehas a recessed portion on its rear face, as indicated in the drawings by letter G, this recessed portion being provided to hold in place a strap K, of leather or other suitable material, and against which strap the end of the picker-strap is adapted to strike as it is drawn forcibly against said strap K.
From the foregoing itwill be observed that my improved attachment to the picker-sticks of looms maybe readily attached to said stick at any location and made to hold the pickerstrap in its proper position without any fastenin g whatever to said slide or stick, thereby dispensing with the loop-strap now in use.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim to be new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In combination with the picker-stick of a loom a slide, a collar passed about said slide and stick, and a set-screw forholdin g the same to the stick, the upper end of the slide having an elongated head with its upper end curved, a picker-strap surrounding said stick and resting on said head of the slide, as shown and described.
2. In combination with a picker-stiok of a loom, the collar, the set-screw mounted therein, a slide having a head which is recessed on one side, a leather or other strap seated in said recess and-held between the slide and the picker-stick and the picker-strap adapted to rest on the head of said slide, as shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
PETER LAMBERT.
