Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views oit the drawings-` i .Referring now more particularly to Figs. 1 to 4 oit' the accompanying drawings there i s illustrated at 1 a. device formed of a single sheet of suitable material such as patent coated solid manilla. For a size such as 181/2 X 44 inches a thickness o1 25 pointsis suitable. p
The. device may take a variety oiforms but in the present embodiment its salient characteristic is its likeness, `in part, to a rectilinear box or carton 3, usually higher than its width and wider than its thickness,
`standing in relief, carrying suitable legendsy and the like (not shown) and having as a background slidewardly disposed wings 5 and 7 and an upwardly disposed wing 10. r.lheboX-like portion 3 :is disposed at an angle to thc. vertical wings 5 and 7 when assembled tor display. d
In making the device shown in Fig. 1 onlyk two operations are required, namely, lithographing or the equivalent and die cutting. The dotted lines 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 indicate scoring to facilitate bendingof the device from the ilat or shipping form shown, in Figs. 1, 5 and 6, to a display form, shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 4. 21, 23, 25, 27, 29 and 81 indicate incisions whose uses will be explained. l
Part ofthe support rests upon the .Hoor or showcase or the like, ina plane in advance of the other parts ot the base. fact, coupled with the fact that the device is ot' one piece, with scoring converging towardthe top to make the device stable, ensures the stability and rigidity necessary for display purposes, when substantially of the article. The two lines, 13 and 15 are completed at their lower ends by incisions 29 and 31. These last named score lines l13 and 15 together with the incisions 29 and 31 and the lateral score 17 bound what later appears to an observer as the box 3 front section and a base 41 upon which said box 3 resta. The incisions 29 and 31 are jogged so as to include in the boX-i'ront-anclhase plane 37 the small lateral areas 43 and 45 for ornamental purposes giving the hase and box a stable appearance.V y
y The dividing line 47 (lithographed) between boX and base extends to the right and left into the intermediate sections and 39 Where it continues to deiine the box in illustration. Within the sections 35 and 39 the line 47 turns upwardly at right angles at its ends, forming the lines 49 and 51 which serve to bound the rear of the box illustration when in display position. The
