BEAUTIFYING SET FOR LADIES HAND BAGS.

and more particularly to a" toilet set including a haircurling apparatus, and it is the principal object of the invention to provide.
a toilet set which may form a part of a case or hand-bag such as usually carried by ladies.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a practical and handy toilet set which embodies in ai'compact form, all of the necessities which a lady requires for executing her toilet particularly when she is away from home.
A further object of the invention isthe rovision of a hair curling and dressing set or ladies, including foldable curling tongs, having hollow handles for the reception of various toilet articles, as for instance perfume bottle, lip stick, eye-brow pencil, and
the like. 1
A still further object of the invention is the provision of atoilet set for'ladies and actors, and the like, including an alcohol lamp and burner, and-means of readily igniting the wick of the same, as well as means for supporting the curling iron or tongs during heating.
It is also one of the features of my invention to provide a toilet set adapted to con- 0 tain a'mirror, a comb, a manicure set, a
powder container and pufi, and in short words, all the necessities for a lady for completing her toilet when traveling etc.
These and other objects and advantages of my invention will become more fully apparent as the description thereof proceeds and will then be more specificalfy defined in the appended claims.

Fig. 10 is a sectional detail view thereof. The case 10, commonly known as a vanity case, or the like, has its cover 11 hinged thereto in any well known manner, and both,
may be made of a suitable material, such as wood, fibre, covered with silk. leather or the like, or may be made of polished aluminum, or enameled metal. The handle 12 issecured to one end of the case 10, so as to furnish a suitable carrying medium; The case 10 is also fitted with a snap1catch 13, adapted to engage the latch 14 attached to the cover 11. so as to securelyhold the said cover in a closed position. 'It being understood that, I
do not necessarily limit the use of-my invention in particular to vanity cases as above describedand set forth, but to all'classes and types of vanity cases. such as may be, from time to time. depending largely upon the current styles, modes, etc., carried by ladies.
Referring in particular to the embodiment of my improved device in a vanity case, the trav member. adapted to hold the various articles. comprises a trav member proper 14. hinged at one end or side. in the well known manner, to the upper portion of the case 10, adjacent to the cover 11, so as to provide a compartment 15, below the said tray member proper. The secondary tray member proper 16, is hinged to the tray memberproper 14, in the well known manner. The said travmembers proper 14 and 16 being of sufiicient and suitable size to entirely enclose or cover the'said compartment 15. when in a closed position. as clearlv shown in Fig. 2of the accompanying drawings.
The secondary tray member 16 is provided with an extended element 1'7. positioned adjacent to the side 1801. the case 10. The extended element- 17 hasformed or out therein apertures to receive the adjustable memhcr19. a thumb screw or the like. which is extended through the the side of the case 1 which. is provided with an elongated slot having slightly ta pered e'dges', adapted to receivc the tapered edges of the clamping block. which is adiustahly attached. by a threaded aperture or the like to the threaded extremity of the adjustable member 19. The latter described uide element 20 of construction being such as will permit the secondary tray member 16, to be by the reference numeral 22, Fig. 2, as a means of permitting the mirror 23, normally held in the. cover 11, when inserted in the.
clip 24, adapted to slidably receive the lower edge of the mirror 23, to be held in any desired angle, such as designated by the reference numeral 25, as is desirable and more convenient to the lady using the said mirror. It being understood that the mirror 23, is of suitable size to slidably engage inside the cover 11, and that the mirror 23, and the secondary tray member 16, are provided, respectively, with depending members'26 and 27, straps or the like to facilitate the manipulation thereof.
The tray member proper 14 and the secondary tray member 16, are adapted to hold or support the comb 28, which is held thereon by a holder 29. The powder container 30, a curling tong 31, the combination finger nail device 32, and an alcohol container 33 with combined accoutrem-ents, are removably held on the said tray members 14 and 16.
The combination finger nail device as illustrated in Fig.5, comprises abuffer 34 held in a suitable frame 35 attached to the nail clipper member 36, provided with a cutting edge 37, or extremity, adjacent to a similar cutting edge 38, of the second nail clippermember 39, which is pivotally attached, as at 40, to the nail clipper member 36.
The said "cutting edges 37 and 38 being normally held in a disengaged position, by a flat spring 41, attached at one extremity to the second nail clipper member 39. The nail cleaner member 42 is provided with a free extremity, pointed, as at 43, and is pivotally attached, at its other extremity,
as at 4:4, to the nail clipper member 36. The said nail cleaner member 39 is provided with the usual filefinished surface.
The curling tong or iron, Fig. l, comprises the customary iron or shank 45 and 46, pivotally connected, as at 47, to the inner shank ends the hollow handles 48 and49, are pivotally secured, as at 50 and 51. The outer ends of the hollow handles are closed by screw caps 52 and 53, respectively, allowing ready access to the interior of the hollow handles, a perfume bottle '54: closed by a ground glass stopper 55, is located in one of the hollow handles, while the other handle contains a lip stick 56, cosmetic, and an eyebrow pencil 57, in a common .holder 58.
The alcohol container 33, Figs. 7 and 8, has a removable cover 59, held in place by a latch member 60, adapted to slidably engage the container. The container, contains a material 61 for instance, asbestos saturated with alcohol, part of which extends through an fipening in the container, constituting awlc held in any desired angular position, such as designated r The igniter 62 is mounted on top the container, opposite the wick, and comprises a cerium or other suitable striking face 63 adapted to be engaged by a striker 64 of suitab'l'e material to produce by friction a spark for the ignition of the wick. 'A support 65 is suitably mounted on top the container near the striker which maybe pivoted to its upper face, as at 66. At its lower end the support is attached to a piece 67, journaledin suitable ears on the top of the container, and its upper edge is suitably concaved to form a rest for the curling tong, while the tongs thereon are heated over the flame of the burning wick, a shoulder being provided to limit the movement of the striker toward the wick for holding the support in the position to support the tongs, when in rest, it may be folded against the top of the .container.
Referring in particular to Fig. 3 of the accompanying drawings, the hand-bag 68, provided with hinged members 69 and 7 O, and 9. depending handle 71, strap or the like, is of common construction, such as usually carried by ladies. ,It being understood that I do not necessarily limit the further use of my improved devices to hand-bags of the particular type above described, but to all types and classes of hand-bags such as may be carried and used 'by'ladies.
