IMPROVEMENT IN GLOVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,578, dated June 15, 1875; application filed November 25, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM MEYER, of Oneida, Madison county, State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Gloves, of which the following is a specilication:
The nature of my invention consists in the arrangement of a band at the end ofthe glove, provided with a button or hook, and so constructed that the same can be turned over, so as to represent a gauntlet-glove, or be turned in a line with the surface of a glove, and be worn as a two or three buttoned glove, as may be desired.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure I represents an outside view oi' a glove with my improvement as a regular two or three buttoned glove. Fig. II represents the same with the band reversed or turned over as a gauntlet-glove.
A represents a glove, made of any desirable material. B is a band attached to the end of the glove, and capable of being turned over,
as represented in Fig. II, so as to lay over the end of the glove to form a gauntlet. The outer surface of this band is covered with the same material as the body of the glove, so as to form, in a position as represented in Fig. I, a. continuation of the glove. The inner surface of this band B, which, in the position represented in Fig. II, becomes the outside, may be covered with any suitable and desired ma terial, such as fur, velvet, silk, &c. To the glove one or more buttons or other fastenin gs, a a, are attached in the usual manner, and to the band B a similar fastening, b, is attached, capable of being fastened in either position this band B may be turned.
