MEMORANDUM DEVICE.

This invention relates to an article of nianufzrctm'e particularly adapted and in tended for use in connection with pagesof a book, ledger sheetsor the like.

in the handling of numerous accounts (in banks for instance) it is frequently necessary to ten'iporarily attach a men'iorandun'i on the ledger sheet or page to give notice to the bookkeeper of some condition or situation peculiar to the particular account or other item of business listed on the page or sheet. According to the usual custom a card is made out and given to the bookkeeper but this card is not always conveniently handy when working on the account and frequently the absence orrather separation of the memorandum from the work results in costly error. Furthermore, it is notconvenient nor practical in the majority of cases to hold or attach'a memorandum to a page or, sheet not only because the clip is likely to catch or snag other sheets of paper, but these clips frequently come loose. or often tear the pages and do not enable the pages of a book to lie completely flat if the book is closed. I

Accordingly, the invention has primarily in view the provision of a simple, practical and I eliicient device comprising a memorandum surface and n'ieans associated therewith for COllllQOtlIig the same tothe page of book, ledger sheet or card of the type used in banking houses for example, to keep a record of customers a.ec mnts,'an(l similar purposes.

With the above and other objects in view which will more readily appear as the'natu're of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts herein after more fully described, illustrated and claimed.

In the Gl'l'lbOClllDQIlll of the invention shown in the drawings it will be observed that the same includes a sheet 1 of paper or other suitablematerial adapted to receive a record, and. if desifi conveniently held in position with reference to. the page, sheet or card shown in dotted lines 111 F 1g. land designated generally as A. From the drawings it will be apparent that the memorandum sheet 1 having: the holding: means 3 at one corner thereof may be readilyand conspicuously placed on the ledger card of the bookkeeping system of a bankin such a way that if payment is to be stopped on a particular check for a customer, the boolreeper will be definitely and positively advised of the inforn'iation, and yet the disadvantages of paper clips and the like entirely avoided while at the same time a consolidated or united memorandum sheet and holding means is provided.

The present devices may bemanufactured in large quantities by stationers or paper maluifacturers and can be used as freely as ordinary memorandum sheets and yet have greater utility and more advantages than any similar n'icans heretofore known for this purpose.
