VANITY CASE.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in vanity cases and pertains more particularly to an improvement upon the powder container of Patent No.

51,603,243, of October 12, 1926.

The primary object of the invention is to provide an attachment for the container which will more effectively prevent accidental or unintended escape of the powder from the container, which attachment affords a trap for the powder so as to prevent the latter from escaping.

The invention further aims to provide a device of the character mentioned, which is of simple and economical construction, and which can be easily and quickly applied.

The felt pad or disk 19 extends beyond the depression 13 and also beyond the clamping disk 20 as to permit its peripheral portion 21 to flare into the ofi'set resultant from the depression 13, which portion 21 provides an effective seal for the well 11, preventing the escape of powder therefrom.

The present invention resides in the provision of a ring 30 having its inner circum ference flanged downwardly at 31. The ring 30 seats on'the ledge 10 and has its peri hery formed to snugly fit against the shoul or or wall 33 which latter encircles the ledge 10. Preferably the ring is frictionally held in position, permitting its easy attachment and removal, so as to allow cleanin of the parts. if desired. By referring to ig. 2, it will be seen that the flange 31 cooperates with the upper-side wall 3 1 of the well 11 to form a circular pocket or trap 32, which will trap the powder and prevent the latter from reaching the pad 21 and thereby escaping. Further, .the flange 31 confronts the peri heral edge of the clamping disk 20 and us provides a further trap 35 which latter allows but a small quantity of the powder to en age the pad.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters'Patent is:

1. In a loose powder container, having a powder compartment encompassed by a shouldered ledge, a cover for the compartment having a felt pad and a clamping disk for the pad, a ring seated on the ledge and forming a seat for the pad and being engaged with the shoulder and a flange dependmg from the inner circumference of the ring and spaced from the adjacent side ofthe compartment and from the disk to form a pair of'spaced circular powder traps.
