HEATING DRUM.

rIhis invention relates to an improvement in heating drums, and more particularly to the type applicable to stove or furnace smoke whereby the heat carried t-lirough the flue may be transmitted to the drum and conducted by piping from the drum to any suitable source. v
rEhe invention consists of atubular drum of sufficient size to envelope the smoke flue of a stove or furnace, and is provided with an outlet nipple to which a pipe is attached for conducting the heated air from the drumk to a suitable source. Mounted on the smoke flue are two heads, each made in sections, for readily assembling of the heads and drum on the smoke flue. rlhe heads are provided with an internal flange for supporting the ends of the drum.
rlfhe invention consists of certain other novel features of construction and combi nations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

A stove or furnace smoke flue or pipe 5, has mounted thereon at any suitable point throughout its length, a tubular drum 6, which is of greater diameter than the diameter of the smoke flue 5.
The drum 6 is supported on the flue 5 by means of heads, composed of two sections 7, 7. rIhe heads are preferably cast, and each section is provided with a semi-circular outwardly projecting hub 8, which engages the smoke flue 5. The hub portion 8 of each section is provided near the end thereof with a projection 9, whereby bolts l() may be passed through the projections for fastening the heads on the smoke flue 5.
On the inner face of each head section 7 is formed a semi-circular flange or ring 1l, which is located a short distance below the peripheral edge of the head. rlhe flanges or rings 11 of the two heads support and engage the ends of the tubular drum 6. One of the heads is fixed or fastened to the smoke flue 5 and an end of the drum 6 is placed thereon, then the other head is moved along the smoke iue until the flange 1l of the other head is in engagement with the other end of the heating drum 6 when the Ahead sections 7 are clamped about the smoke flue `by means of the bolt 9. Each section 7 of the heads is provided with a laterally eX- tending ear 15 which is adapted to engage the adjacent edge of the adjacent section for insuring the head sections being properly alined when joined together and placed upon the smoke flue. One of the sections 7 of one of the heads is provided with an opening for the admission of air to the drum 6 which may be closed entirely by means of a pivoted damper l2 carried by the head and the size of the opening may be regulated by the movement of the damper. The heating drum 6 is provided withan outlet nipple` 13 to which a pipe may be attached for conducting the heated air of the drum to a 'room or any other suitable place.
rom the foregoing it will be seen that a simple attachment has been provided for a .smoke flue for extracting some of the heatv in the fiue gases which is generally wasted by passing through the smoke liue to the atmosphere and which device may be readily applied or removed at the convenience o the owner.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is f l. In a heating drum, the combination with a smoke flue of a tubular drum surrounding the flue, sectional heads, each section being provided with a semi-circular hub at its inner edge, the hub of each section of a head being mounted upon the flue, and means carried by the hubs for fas tening the hubs of a head together on the of one head being'provided with an air fitsinlet opening, and a damper mounted on said section, for regulating the amount of air delivered to the drum.
