UNITED stares EARL BLACKER, F EVERETT, WASHINGTON.
BAG-DELIVERING MACHINE.
Application filed February 23, 1926. Serial No. 90,143.
The objects of my invention are to provide a novel bag delivering machineirom which one bag at a. time may be readily removed and which will not tear or injure the bags in any way. 7 v
l attain these and other objects of my invention by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a front elevation of my invention;
Fig. 2 is a. vertical section on hne 2-2 of Fig. 1; and a F ig. 3 is a side elevation of the device.
Lilre numerals indicate like parts in each of the several views. I
Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1'. provide a sheet metal back 1 having outwardly extending sides consisting ot upper portions 2 and lower portions 3 \Yll'll fl median cut-out portion a. I also provide an integrally formed base 13 connecting the two sides.
I .provide a plate 5 having a looped portion to swivelly hold the end connecting portion 6 of the swingable wire arms 8. The said arms 8 have inturned. ends 9 extending through the sides 10 ot a bag-eir gaging member, which member includes rollers 14: mounted on rods 15 secured in the sides 10. The sides 10 also carry plate 11 to which may be attached an upstanding plate 12, as shown in Fig. 2. I provide a pair of suitable springs 7 each spring having one end suitably attached to one of the wire arms 8 and also having the other end of eat-h spring resiliently contacting with the back 1 of the holder, as shown in Figsal and 2. I provide upstanding curved plats or bumps 16 to hold the upper portion of the bag in an outwardly curved relation to the back of the holder, the members 16 having portions 17 extending parallel and attached to the back 1 of the holder. I also turn over as the bag is withdrawn.
provide suitable brackets 20 in which is slidably mounted the L-shaped arm 18, the 5 forwardly extending end 19 of which loosely engages over the tops of the bags B to prevent them from flapping out too far while permitting the user to readily grasp the top of the nearest bag.
In operation, the user grasps the top of the outermost bag and pulls the bag out the bag following the direction of the arrow shown in Fig. 2 and causing the resilient bag-engaging device 10 to swing back or The device is especially advantageous in permitting rapid removal of one bag at a time trom the holder without tearing any of the bags. It is within the contemplation of my invention to modify minor details of the construction of the device without departing essentially from the novel combination of elements hereinbefore described and set out in the following claim.
What I claim is:
In a bag holding device, the combination ot a casing adapted to receive a stack of paper bags, mounted upstanding members m the upper inside portion of the casing to cause the upper portions of the bags to bow upwardly, an arm adjustably mounted on the bags and extending over the bags and loosely engaging the top of the outermost bag. and means resiliently and rel-easahly engaging the bags at a point a substantial distance from the top of the bag, whereby one bag maybe removed at a time readily without tearing the bags, the aforesaid resilient bag engaging means including swingable 30 arm members. plates swingably mounted on said arm members, said plates carrying loosely mounted rollers at each end thereof to engage the bags substantially as described.
