My invention relates to im rovements in a glove or handkerchief hol er for ladies hand bags.-

" Briefly the object ofthe invention is to provide a hand bag or similar article with a reenforced strap or flap which is so connected with the bag that it may be engaged over a pair of gloves, handkerchief, etc., and

fastened by a se arable fastening means to a section of the a proper.

Referring to the drawings, 10 denotes the front orrear walls of the usual pouch type hand bag havin their ad'acent bottom and side edges stitc ed toget er and the free edges at the top of the bag provided with the ordinary frame 11 and handle 12; In Figure 1 the invention is shown applied to the back wall and comprising a stri of material in the form of. a tab'13 whic is con-- nected to the bag proper along the bottom seam thereof so as to fold upwardly over the face of the back wall 10. The tab itself comrises at least two superimposed layers of eather or fabric, the outer layer being turned over the underlayer and a line of stitching 14 run margina 1y about the tab, as illustrated in Figure 3. The layers are reenforced and provided with u standing ribs or e aging jaws 15 formed y' a substantially -shaped metal-strip 16 disposed between the two layers of material with the upstanding sides directed towards the inside layer. When the tab is made the inside layer of material is worked over the metal strip 16 so as to give the inside surface of the tab the appearance of merelyhaving two outwardly ro'ecting ribs or jaws running parallel wit t e sides ofthe tab. The free end of the tab is rovided with one member of a separable astenin means 17 while the other member is carrie by the adjacent wall ofthe bag.

To finish off the work a small strap or band 18 is arranged over the slit. Whenthe tab is arranged on the front wall of, the bag and the latter is of the fiat type having a folding flap 19 to close over the open end of the bag,

it is desirable to provide the. tab itself with one member of a separable fastening means 20, the other member being carried by the flap 19 in the usual manner. Therefore, when the bag is closed the flap 19 is held in lace by its connection with the tab.

0 utilize the present invention it will be clear that the tab 13 is merely unfastened at the separable fastening means 17 and the gloves or handkerchief placed against the adjacent wall of the ba and the tab folded thereover and engaged again. The outstanding jaws 15 of the tab engage and press transversely into the articles being held to prevent the latter being easily removed without disengaging the fastening means.

Having now. described the nature of my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. An attachment for a. hand bag, comprising a tab permanently connected at one end to the bag and separabl connected thereto at the free end, said ta being provided with outstanding rigid ribs on its inthe tab and bag.

2.'An attachment for a hand bag, comprising a tab permanently connectedat one end to the bag and separably connected thereto at the free end, said tab comprising layers of material, and'a reenforcing member disposed therebetween having upstanding ribs over which portions of one layer are made to conform, said covered rib forming jaws directed towards the wall of the bag when in closed position.

In combination with a hand bag having a closing fla of a glove holding at tachment for the bag comprising a tab permanently connected at one end to the outer wall of the bag and separably connected prising a tab permanently connected at one end to the bag and separably connected thereto at the other end, .saidtab comprising layers of material attached together 5 along their edges, and a metal insert disposed between the layers and comprising a rigid strip of metal having its longitudinal edges upturned in lines substantially parallel to the sides of the tab, the ribs formed by the upturned edges bei wards the wall of the bag w in closed position.
