li`ig. 10 is a sectional view of Fig. 7 on line l0-10, and
Fig. 11 is a perspective view partially `in section of the corner formation of the n'iodification shown in Figs. 7 to 10.
ln the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 a sheet material stamping 10 is stamped on a die-press` and is provided with side walls 11, 12, `13 and 14 folded at right angles to the bottom or playing surface 15 to form a box-like structure. The side walls 11, 12, 13 and 14 are provided with indentations 16 protruding inwardly when the box is formed to support the transparent material 17, such as glass or the like.
The wall 14 is provided with holes 18 for rivets 19, which retain support 2O and sp-ring lever 21 in operating` position. The
' spring lever 21 protrudes beyond the side wall 11 through an aperture 22 therein and 192e. semi No. 108,768'.
may be provided with a ball or handle 23. The straight walls 24 and 25, curved wall 26 and the walls forming the U-shaped ball pockets 27 are struck up or raised above the playing surface 15 by the forming die. The walls 24, and 26 are raised slightly higher than the walls composing the EJ- shaped pockets 27. The ball pockets 27 have only a slight rise so as to allow the balls to roll over the top and thus escape. The outer side walls are provided) with chamfered corners 28 folded at right angles to form a frame 29 to cooperate with the indentation 16 to hold the transparent material 17 in position. The walls 12 and 14 have a double bend which extends beyond the bottom or playing surface 15 lforming extensions 30 and 31 to retain the match holder or other article 32 in position with relation tothe stamping. A strap or band 33v is attached to the side walls 13 and 14 and spaced from and extending across the outer surface of the bottom so that the paper cover of the `match holder can be slipped thereunder, removably attaching the holder to the bottom. l
In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 4, 5 and 6 the stamping 10 has the side walls 34, 35, 36 and 37 folded at right angles to the bottom or playing surface'15. A fra-me 38 stamped from sheet material is provided with side walls 39, 40, 41 and 42, which are folded to encircle the box-like structure. The frame 38 at spaced intervals has extensions 43 provided. with indentations 44 which cooperate with indentations 45 of the article 46, inthis instance, a compact `forming a removable connection therewith. The side walls 39, 40, 41. and 42 have cut-out tabs 47 which are bent inwardly and parallel to the frame for spacing and holding the transparent material. In the embodiment of the 'Y invention shown in Figs. 8 to 11 inclusive a sheet stamping 47 is provided with a playing surface 48 on one side and the opposite side serving as a backing for the article attached thereto, such for example, as a match holder as illustrated. The side walls 49 and 51 have attached thereto the tabs 53 which are folded inwardly to support the transparent material 54. `Integral with the wall is the double fold section 55 which forms an upper portion of the frame for retaining the transparent material 54 against the tabs 53, the top section 5.6 and the Cover or tab 57. The top rsection has tabs58 for retaining the, folded sections in position. Integral with the side wall 52 is d ouble fold section 59, which forms a lower portion of the 'frame for retaining the transparent matefolded sections (33 and 64 which complete' the frame for retaining the transparent ma terial adapted to be slipped within slots 55 and to` receivey the frame in folded po,- sition as shown inFig. l1.
The game or puzzle illustrated is to roll the bal-ls or small shot 48 into the cupshaped recess i-9 of the spring lever 2i. The spring lever 21 when operated propels the ball 4-8 through a guide passage formed by the outer ivall'll and the raised Wall The ball follows the curved Wall 2Gl where it loses momentum and is deflected to the playing surface in the neighborhood of the pocket-s 27. The pockets are formed by Walls slightly rounded so that a very slight disturbanceiwill dislodge the ball from the pocket. Furthermore, if the ball has too much momentum when it strikes the pocket it will roll over the Wall and take its place with the remaining balls at the retaining wall 24.
While this invention is shown and described more particularly With reference to a specific form of game it is not so limited, and various changes can be made in the form, dimensions and arrangement of the parts Without departing from the invention or sacrificing the advantages thereof.
I claim:
