HENRY G. HUBON, OF SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-BRACKETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l62,171, dated April 20, 1875; application filed February 26, 1875.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Beit known that I, HENRY G. HUBON, ot' Salem, in the county otl Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improved Wall and Ceiling Lamp-Bracket; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying dra-wing making part ot' this specification, and representing, in perspective, the bracket as applied to walls and vertical supports. y
My invention consists in a lamp-bracket having a ring seat or holder, which is provided with an opening in one-side, through which opening the lamp may be admitted at the small part of its standard, and rest in the holder by the body, or in case of a lamp without a stand, but having a handle, by which opening the handle may have place, and allow the body to rest firmly in the holder, and, in connection with the above, providing the bracket-arm with a reliector-socket, and its screw-shank with a iange, all substantially as herein specified.
ln the drawing, A represents the rin g-hold er of the bracket; B, its arm or shaft, and G a screw-shank, by which it is attached to the wall, ceiling, or other Support, by screwing into the same. The holder A has an opening, a, in one side, to allow the lamp-standard to be admitted, and the lamp-body to rest in the holder, its base hanging below the bracket, whereby any kind or size of lamp may be held firmly in the bracket; or, in case of a portable lamp provided with a side handle instead of a standard, the lamp-body canA rest rnily in the holder, the handle occupying the opening a. The arm or shaft B has or may have a socket, b, as shown, to receive the lsupport ot a lamp-reflector. There is a lian ge, c, next to the screw-shank G, to bear against the surface of the wall or other support, and keep the bracket iirm and more stron gly in place.
The same construction applies for ceilingbrackets or pendants, except that the arm or shaft B is extended in length to bring the holder down to the right height above the door, and has a right-angled bend near the holder, to bring the latter into a horizontal position.
That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A lamp-bracket constructed with a holder, A, having an opening, a, in one side, a shaft or arm, B, provided with a retlector-socket, b, and a scre\\'shank, O, provided with a flange, c, all substantially as herein specied.
HE NRY Gr.V HUBON.
