Mar. 13, 1923. 1,448,271 w. P. GRAVES PORCH SWING HANGER Filed Jan. 12, 1922 A TTORNE Y Patented Mar. 13, 1%23.
F F i f PORCH-SVVING HANGER.
Application filed January 12, 1922. Serial No. 528,725.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM P. GRAVES, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of South Pittsburg and State of Tennessee, have invented new and useful Improvements in Porch-Swin Hangers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw- This invention is a porch swing hanger, and the main object is to provide a simple and practical device of the kind, one eliminating the usual squeak attendant upon most swing hangers, and having means provided for ready greasin Another object is to provide a hanger w ich may be easily put up or taken down.
Figure 1 is a vertical section through one of the hangers.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the device.
Figure 3 is a plan view.
The invention consists of a hollow, sectional, spherical case 1-2 separable on a horizontal central line as shown, and securable together'by threading and counter threading the sectlons 1 and 2 at 3 and 4:,
as shown. An integral screw 5 extends upwardly as means for fastening the hanger into the porch ceiling. The lower section 2 has a flaring opening 6 through its under side, and the shank 7 of the swing hook 8 is loosely passed through this openin and the ball 9 firmly joined to, or integral y formed at, the end of the shank 7, and resting within the case 1-2, supports the hook and pendant swing in a position permitting the easy movement of the swing in any direction. The wall of the section 2 is pierced with a duct 10 to ermit the insertion of the tube 11 of an or inary lubricating the device. drip pan or disk 13 is mounted on the shank 7 below the ball 9, to catch any dripping grease.
The operation and use of the device is obvious.
While I have herein described a certain specific method of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood that same may be varied in minor details, not departing from th Spirit 50 M of my inventlon as defined in the appended claim.
I claim:
In a porch swing hanger, the combination of a hollow, sectional spherical case, the upper section having means for attaching to the porch ceiling and the lower section having a flaring opening; a swing hook having its shank projected up through said opening; a ball mounted on the end of the shank, inside the case; and means for lubricating the device; and a drip disk mounted on the shank'to catch dripping grease.
