Figs. 3 and 4 are detached views of parts thereof.
A and B represent the front and rear cantles, made of malleable iron, of suitable shape, and fastened in or to zinc plates 0 0. These plates are made concave 011 the upper sides, and convex on the under sides, of suitable have hereunto shape to fit the horses back. The plates are fastened to the cantles by screws passing up into nuts or enlargements a a, formed at the lower edges of the cantles. food pieces D D are then fitted into the plates 0 0, between the cantles, to form the seat, and also to fill up the ends of the plates in front and rear of the cantles.
A saddle constructed in this manner will be light and durable, and may be made of any desired form or shape.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A saddle constructed of metal cantles A B, metal plates 0 O, and Wood filling-pieces D D, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
