Description

Dec. 21 1926. 1,611,420 F. K. CUDDY WORK GARMENT Filed Nov. 2, 1925 INVENTOR ATTORNEY Fran Patented Dec. 21, 1926.
UttH't5E stares ears 1,611,420 r orrics.
FRED K. CUDDY, on Kansas or-rY, rarsso'onr Application filed November 2, Serial No. 68.359.
My invention relates to work garments and has for lts princlpal ob ect to provide a com- 'bination overall consisting of separate jackcome soiled more quickly than the jacket, and
by having the jacket and trousers members separable the expense of renewal or laundermg of a complete garment may be obviated.
In accomplishing the object of my invention I provide improved details of structure, the preferred forms of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. 1 is a view of a combination garment embodying my improvements, illustrating its application to a wearer, flaps of the garment being turned back to illustrate the connection between the separate members.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the lower portion of the jacket, particularlyillustrating the waist band construction.
Fig. 3 is a front perspective view of the waist portion of the trousers member.
Fig. i is a rear view of portions of the jacket and trousers, particularly illustrating the drop seat of the trousers.
Referring more in detail to the drawings:
1 designates the jacket and 2 the trousers of a combination rment embodying my improvements. The jacket 1 has a front opening 8 with the usual buttons 4 along one edge and concealed buttonholes 5 along the other edge, the body of the jaclet'coutinuing into a waist band portion 6, the corners of which are cut back to form the notches 7 for facilitating access to the upper portion of the trousers fly when the jacket is assembled with the trousers and the combinedgarment is in use.
Stitched or otherwise secured to the waist band portion at intervals thereabout are tabs 8, having buttonholes 9 for receiving buttons 10 on the waist band of the trousers section, the two rear tabs being arranged at an inward angle so that when connected with the trousers, pull on the tabs will tend to spread the trousers member and fit the same snugly at the seat. The tabs 8 are covered by a flap 11 stitched to the waist band 6 continuously about the jacket and over the edges thereof to form a downwardly opening pocket containing thetabs, so that the latter are protected and the waist band of the trousers concealed when, the garment is assembled to provide a dust-proof garment.
The trousers 2 are of the conventional construction for garments of this kind, except for the side openings 12, which extend downwardly from the waist band a sufiicient distance to form a drop seat 13, the edges of the drop seat and the leg portions having buttons and buttonholes l t-15 for connect? ing the seat-to the body of the trousers.
The bu tons 10 on the trousers waist band 16 are inside of the waist band in front and on the outside of the band at the rear of the trousers, the buttons at the back being spaced to cooperate with the inclined tabs on the jack t to draw the seat laterally as before mentioned. v
in using the garment the jacket and trousers members may be connected either before or after the garment is put on in either event the jacket extends into the trousers part and the flap 11 on the outside thereof so that the trousers waist band is nested within the pocket formed by the jacket and its flap, the upper edges of the trousers fly being located within the ends of the pocket, one of the tabs 8 being located near each end of the pocket to hold the corners of the fly therein. 1
it is apparent that a garment of this con-' struction may be used as any ordinary one piece overall, the flap 11 of the jacket giving the garment the one-piece appearance and protecting the connecting members.
Should the trousers become worn, they may be disconnected from the jacket and replaced with new pair, or if they become soiled and it is desired to wash them individually of the jacket, they may be removed and cleansed and then re-attached to the jacket.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: i
l. A combination overall, comprising separate jacket and trousers members, the jacket having a waistband portion, tabs on the waist band portion, a flap extending substantially from one vertical edge of said jacket member to the other vertical edge thereof and attached to the waist band portion alon its upper edge and to the front vertical edges of the jacket at its ends, forming a closed-in pocket for the tabs, the trousers having buttons for the tabs to connect the two garment members, the front ends of the Waist band portion being notched to expose the trousers fly.
2. A combination overall, comprising separate acket and trouser members, the jacket member having a Waist-band portion, tabs on the Waist-band portion, a flap extending from one vertical edge of said jacket member to the other vertical edge thereof and attached to the Waist-band portion along the upper edge of said flap and t0 the front vertical edges of the jacket at its ends, forming a closed ended pocket for the tabs, the trousers having buttons for the tabs to connect the two garment members.
3. A combination overall, comprising separate jacket and trouser members, the jacket member having a waist-band portion, tabs on the Waist-band portion, a flap extending from one vertical edge of said jacket member to the other vertical edge thereof and attached to the waistband portion along the upper edge of said flap and to the front vertical edges of the jacket at its ends, forming a closed ended pocket for the tabs, the trousers having buttons for the tabs to conmet the trio garment il'lQD'llJOl'S, said flap portion being 0t substantially the same Width as said Waist-band portion to have the appearance of a belt.
In testimony whereof I my si ture.
FRED K. CUDDY.
