The invention will best be understood by a firmer grasp on objects yreference to the accompanying drawings which illustrate one embodiment of the inventive idea. It is to be expressly understood, however, that said drawings are for the purposes of illustration only and are not to be construed as deiinitive of the limits of the invention, reference being had to the appended claim for that purpose.

Stitched to the outer side of portion 10 is a piece of leather 12 having palm porti-on 13, inner thumb portion 14, iirst finger 15 and fourth finger 16. Sewn to thumb portion 14 and gauntlet 11 is the upper or rear leather thumb portion 17. Leather portion 18, shown in Fig. 6, is folded along the slit 19 cut therein, and edges 20, 21

turned toward the opposite edges thereof,

and this portion is stitched, along slit 19, to slit 24E formed in leather portion 12, so that the part of leather portion 18 extending from slit 19 to end 22 forms the inner surface of the second linger while the part extending from slit 19 to end 23 forms the inner surface of the third finger. Portions 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 are of such size that the finger seams l5', 16 and 18 are thrown well to the back of the glove.

It will be apparent that a seam is formed` at the base of the second and third lingers contracted in order tofgrasp ran object, there is a natural depressionat the base'4 of thej fingers into which said seam projects, thereby filling the same. and greatly aiding in the firmnessv with whichA an object may be grasped. The ends of stripV 25 are secured in the crotch seams between the first and second yfingers and between the third and fourth fingers. Sincethree sides of strip 25k free edge thereare thus stitched, the upper of is snugly held 'against'the' fingers.

' The ends' of. the fingers ofja glove are subjected to considerable wear on bothsides and the back, and, .in order to protect-these parts, a small strip of leather 28 isr stitched to the upper surface of the lfirstjoint of each of the fingers as is illustrated iniFig. 2. To prevent ripping of the` wrist seam`29, at the upper wear at this point,'a semi-circularpiece yof leather 30,.Fig. 8, ymaybe stitched to gauntlet 11 and wrist seam 29, asis illustrated in Figs. 1 and 3.

--It will thus be perceive-d that I have provided a glove that is inexpensive to manu` 'facture and =yet one which is particularly adaptedto'hard use. The various parts of the glove are so associated that'there are only two finger crotch seams, which seams together with the seam at the base of thesec- 0nd and third fingers are strengthened and protected bymeans of the welt-like strip' 25.v
