, na'rnme CHAIR.
Application filed February 23,- 192'6. Serial No. 90,122.
An object of the w resent invention is to provide a bathing air in which abather assume a comfortable seated position in the Water, and will be "buoyed up andmaintained with may his head above water at all times.
A further object of the invention 1s to prbvide a bathingchair which, when in use, will serve to retain the user in a seated posiwithout danger of tipping over and submerging the head.
Further objects of the invent on are to provide a device of this character, of simple, I
practical construction, which will be rugged,
durable and eh'icicnt in use, ..which n1a-y be readily applied or removed, and which may be manufactured with comparative economy. With the above noted mview, the. invention consists in certain 2.6 novel featuresof construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, aswill be more fully hereinafter set The invention may be more fully understood from the following descriptionm connection; with the accom- I panymg drawings, wherein- The drawing is a perspectivetview of a bathing chair embodyin the present inven; tion, the dotted lines indicating an occupant ofthe ch'air. v
Referring with particularity to the draW-' ings l have used the reference character 10 to designate a buoyant body encircling elea ment'which maybe' formed of ciirk, kapok,
recognized buoyant qualities, or may if desired, be in the nature of an inflatable'tube. The member 10 is adapted to encircle the body of a wearer beneath the shoulders, leaving the wearers arms outside of the member 10 and freely movable.
Suspended from the body encircling element lO is a watQO; is preferably connected to the rear of the member-'10 by a pair of yertieal straps-11",: and the front of the seat cohri'ected'to' the member 10 by Straps 11 and 12. vmay be provided. with for adjusting their length. Connecting the straps 11 is a cross stra 1.3 adapted to snugly engage the small ofthe back of an occupant of the chair. A cross strap 14 connecting the straps 12 near their lower ends is connected at its intermediate portion to one end of an adjustable vertical and other objects forth and pointed ing The rear of the seat apair. of vertical straps-12 strap 15, the other end of which is secured to the front of the chair. Strap 14:, thus cooperates with the lower portions of the straps 12 and with the strap 15 to define leg embracing means. do edge of the ehairis Preferably the forwar 16 to accommodate the legs ofan' occupant seated on the chair, and render the seat 20 more comfortable in use.
It will be understood that the strap 15 of the user and pro a chair from slipping rises between the legs vents the occupant of forwardly out of the seat under the strap 14.
- By making all of the verticalstra-ps adjustable as to length, thedevice may readily accommodate itself to the size of the user. The bathing chair will not only be amusing in use, but willassure the support of the occupant in a comfortable upright'position Withthe head out of'water at all times.
Various changes and made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from the invention. Hence I do not'wish to limit myself to the detailssetforth, but shall considervmyselfi at liberty.to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the straps of the rear pair and the straps or the vforward pair. e 2. A device of the class described, include i y encircling element adapted to gird the body ofawearer imme-i ing a buoyant bod diately below the oulders, a series of straps depending from said element, and a seat carried by the straps,
said straps being arranged in pairs adapted for disposition respectively behind and in front of the wearp er s'body,-'a1id cross straps connecting the straps of the rear pair and the straps of the forward pair, the ,orward cross strap being connected to the forward edge of the seat by an ad ustable vertical strap.
' JOSEPH cut away or notched at it will be evident that?!) alterations might be.
