Description

Aug. 24 1926- L. HEYMANN RECEPTACLE Filed March 9, 1925 Patented Aug. 24, 1926.
LUDWIG HEYMANN, OF OFFEllBACH-ON-THE-MAIN, GERMANY.
BECEPTAGLE.
Application filed March 9, 1925, Serial No. 14,096, and in Germany September 13, 1924.
My invention refers to receptacles, such as purses, ladies handbags, portfolios and trunks and more especially to purses having separate compartments for banknotes and for coins. It is an object of my invention to provide a receptacle of this kind, which is more convenient in use in that the coins can be introduced into the coin .compartment from the banknote compartment, there by enabling the user to stow away banknotes and coins through the banknote compartment and without raising the flap covering the coin compartment,-without hoW ever allowing the. coins to mix with the banknotes.
In the drawings ailixed to this specification and forming part thereof a purse embodying my invention is illustrated by way of example.
In the drawings- Fig. 1 is a front elevation and Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the purse in closed condition.
F ig..3 is a perspective view of the purse showing the banknote compartment in open condition together with the means for introducing coins into-the coin compartment without raising the outer flap closing them.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the coin compartment in open condition.
Referring to the drawings, a is the banknote compartment and b is the coin compartment, these compartments being disposed on different sides of the partition f. The banknote compartment contains a number of inner partitions 7c of different sizes connected with the partition 7 by two edges, as shown in Fig. 3. This compartment is closed by doubling up the partitions f and is so as to place one narrow edge on top of the other, a locking member a of a well known kind serving for preventing the purse from unfolding.
The coin compartment which takes up only half of the partition f on the side opposite the banknote compartment comprises a folding pocket, I), an outer flap d and a press button 0 holding the flap down on the pocket 6.
According'to the present invention, now, the partition is cut out between the coin compartment and the banknote compartment, a rectangular opening 0 being formed in the partition, whichgives free access to the coin compartment from the side of the banknote compartment without requiring the flap cl to be raised. This opening can be closed by a folding pocket 72., attached to the bottom edge and the two lateral edges of the opening, an inner flap 71 attached to the top edge of the opening serving for keeping the pocket It closed.
. Fig. 3 shows the operation of the device: if it is desired to introduce a coin into the coin compartment b from the side of the banknote compartment, the inner flap is raised, thereby causing the pocket It to unfold, whereupon the coin can he slipped through the opening. 1
Fig. 4 showsthe coin in the course of entering the coin compartment, from which it can be withdrawn by raising the flap d.
As a rule leather will be the material from which a purse of this kind will be made, but any other suitable material might be used as well.
A similar arrangement can be used also in connection with ladies handbags, with portfolios, trunks and the like, in which it will often be found convenient to stow away parts of the content in a separate compartment and to be able to withdraw themagain without being compelled to open such'compartment. In all these cases the separate compartment can be made accessible from within the bag, portfolio or trunk and the articles in question can be introduced into this compartment from the inner side of the portfolio or trunk, being withdrawn later on by raising the flap or other means closing the compartment from without.
-I wish it to be understood that I do not desire to be limited to the particular details of construction shown and described, for obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
I-claim:
1. Receptacle for money comprising a banknote compartment, a coin compartment and a partition separating the two compartments and being provided with an opening giving access to one compartment from that side of the partition, on which the other compartment is arranged. V
2. Receptacle for money comprising a partition, a banknote compartment on one side of said partition, a purse for coins on the other side of said partition, the interior of said purse being accessible from the banknote compartment through an opening in the partition and means for covering said opening.
3. Receptacle for money comprising a partition, a banknote compartment on one side of said partition, a purse for coins on the other side of said partition, the interior .of
B said purse being accessible from the bank- 10 tition, a banknote compartment taking up one side of said partition, a purse for coins takmg upone half. of the other side of the partition, the interior of said purse being accessible from the banknote compartment through an opening in the partition and a folding flap covering said opening.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
