It is therefore one of the objects of this invention to provide means whereby such separation is prevented irrespective of the weight carried.

It is a further feature to produce aA bag handle clip having integral means to connect with the outer frame member, and further, to secure a keeper element by which the inner frame member is maintained in close relation with the outer member.

Another aim is in the provision of elficient devices for the features mentioned, that are essentially simple and inexpensive to construct and apply, and furthermore, are distinctly ornamental in appearance. These features are accomplished by the novel construction and combination of parts hereafter described and illust-rated in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which v Fig. 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of a conventional type of bag in a partially open position, showing an application of the invention.

A keeper 23 having offset ends 24 containing elongated openings 25, is held rigidly against the under side of the flange 15, by reason of the prongs 22, which are lpassed through the openings 25 and bent tightly over the opposite surface of the keeper ends 24, rigidly clamping both the keeper 23 and casing 16 to the outer frame member.

On the outer front surface of the smaller, inner frame side 14 is a flat bar 26 held rigidly by rivet 27, the bar being` bent at a right angle inwardly to-pass through an opening 28 in the frame member 14 to constitute a 'liat bolt 29 extending closely below the frame flange 14 and engage, when the bag is closed, within the keeper 23 to contact with its outer and end walls, being guided into engaging position by an outwardly curved lip 30 on the front edge of the keeper.

It will be understood from the foregoing that. the bag may be opened or closed in the usual manner with entire ease, and that when closing the bolt 29 is positively guided into the keeper. p

As the bolt is rigid with the inner frame and of adequate strength to carry its proportion of the weight with which the bag can be loaded, it will be seen that separa tion or sagging of one frame side relative to the other cannot occur.

It will be further seen that no unsightly projections appear to disfigure the bag, the covering 12 being disposed? over the bar 26' and the rotruding bolt 29 is concealed when the ag is it will he that these devices are used in pairs, one at each end of the handle 21.

Although I have described my improvements with considerable detail and with respeet to certain particular forms of my invention, 1 `do not desire to be limited to such details since many changes and modifications may Well be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention in its broadest aspect.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The combination with a bag having a pair of hinged frame members having flanges adapted to fold one within the other,

of a l-Jeeper having slotted offset ends disposed on the under side of the outer flange, a hollow casing on the'top side of the flange to engage a handle, prongs on said casing to pass through the flange and slots in the keeper ends to clamp the casing and keeper thereto, a bar fixed on the face of the inner frame element, said bar being bent to extend inwardly through the wall of the frame be low the flange thereof to engage in said keeper. 2. The combination with a bag having a pair of hinged frame members having flanges adapted to fold one within the other, of a keeper having slotted offset ends disposed on the under side of the outerA flange, a hollow casing on the top side of the flange to engage a handle, prongs on said casing, said prongs rigidly engaging in the keeper slots, an inieaching bolt fixed on the inner frame member to engage said keeper, and means for guiding the bolt therein.

3. The combination with a bag having a pair of hinged frame members having in- V,reaching flanges of unlike area, the smaller flange being foldable below the larger, of a handle connection bracket on Vthe larger flange, a keeper under said flange held rigidly by said bracket thereto, said keeper having a depending lip, and a bolt bent to present right angled arms, one of said arms being riveted to the outer face of the smaller frame side and the other to pass through the wall of the frame side, below the flange thereof and be guided by said lip into the keeper. l
