IMPROVEMENT IN SHU-TTER-FASTENERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 158,779, dated January 19, 1875; application led June 6, 1874.

To all whom it. may concern Beit known that I, JOHN CHRISTIE, of New Orleans, State of Louisiana, have'invented certain Improvements in Blind or Shutter Fastenings, of which the following is a specication:
Figurel is a side View in section. Fig. 2 is a detached View of the outer catch, and Fig. 3 is a Vertical section of the face-plate.
My invention relates to improvements in blind or shutter fasteners; and consists in a novel manner of locking the insideand ontside catches A B, in combination with the single face-plate O, by forming one recess or socket, C, on the outside of the face-plate, and another recess, O, on the inside, separated by a division of about one-sixteenth of an inch.
The three parts composing the combination are locked in position by rst drawing the inside catch, B, through the orifice in the plate from the under side, and then shoving the outer catch, A, through from the face side.
In case any one of the parts gets broken,
any one can replace it by unscrewing the fastening from the shutter and substituting therefor a new piece, without throwing away the whole.
The half-circle cut, D, in the heel of outer catch, A, is for the purpose of compactness, to enable the parts to lie close together, thus avoiding unnecessary friction.
The projection E cast upon the outer catch, A, is for the purpose of closing the orifice in the plate O when in proper position.
I claim as new and of my own inventionr v jection or orifice-closer, E, all substantially as shown, for the purpose set forth.
