DEVIQE FOR AUTOMATICALLY AIDVANCING AND ROTATING THE I YARN-DYEING MACHINES.' h
. Application-filed July 23, 1923. Serial No. ($3,332.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACQUES SOHLUMIF, a citizen of the. Swiss Confederation, residing at Ober-WVinterthur, Rychenbergstrasse 207, Canton Zurich, Switzerland, have 1invented new and useful Improvements in a Device for Automatically Advancing and Rotating the Yarn Rollers of Yarn-Dyeing Machines, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a device for automatically advancing and simultaneously r0- tating the yarn rollers of yarn dyeing machines, wherein the yarn rollers forapplying the strands of yarn turn around a vertical central axis and are fed forward peri- V odically with an alternating direction of rotation according to the successive diiferent treatments to which the yarn 1s to beoperator. The improved mechanism is sim ple and may easily be arranged to 'su1t the various requirements."
The mechanism may also be applied to other textile machines havingcovered rollers for the hank yarn, for example, mercerizing machines.
In the accompanying drawings is illustrated by way of example one form of construction according to the invention where- Fig. l'is a side elevation of'the mecha nism. Fig. 2 is a section on the line AB 0 Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section on the line.CD of -Fig. 2, and v.
Fig. 4 shows diagrammatically a dyeing machine to be driven by the mechanism.
a The mechanism is provided with a shaft 1,
driven by a motor and has a bevel wheel 1 which engages bevel wheels 2, 3 which are fniounted rotatably 011 a shaft 4.
To the bevel wheels 2, 3 are respectively keyed spur wheels 5, 6, these spur wheels 5, 6 gearing with toothedwheels 7, 8 which are loosely mounted on a shaft 9,-the actual driving shaft, which is mounted onthe casing lOparallel' to the second shaft 4. The toothed wheels 7, Sthus rotate in opposite YARN ROLLERS OF directions. The wheels, 7 8 are respectively provided on their opposing sides with clutch faces, 11 and 12. Between these lateral clutch faces 11, 12 there is movably mounted a clutch 13 provided with two lateral clutch faces adapted to engage with the clutch faces 11 and 12. The clutch 13 is axially movable on a sleeve positively connected to the driving shaft 9 through which the latter is driven. The shaft 9 is rotatedin one direction or the other according to whether the clutch 13 is clutched to the wheel 7 or to the wheel 8. The wheel 7 is provided with a second lateral clutch face 16' with which a lateralclutch face 17 of a spur wheel l8 may bebrought into engagement,
The spur wheel 18 is axially movable on the shaft 9 and is under the action of a spring which tends to bring the clutch faces 16, 17 into engagement. The wheel, or gear, 18 gears with a master spur wheel 20 which wheel is loosely mounted on the second shaft 4 and is providedrwith a lateral projection 21 engaging with a groove 22 in a ratchet wheel 23. The latter is loosely mounted on the hub of a bevel wheel 25 mounted on the shaft 4 and is provided with a radial guide rib 26 which engages in an annular groove 27 in the spur wheel 18. In the position shown in Fig. 2 the guide rib 26 holds the wheel 18 out of engagement with the clutch face 16 against the action of the spring 19. The ratchet wheel 23 is engaged'by a'pawl28 which is pivoted on an operating lever 29, Fig. 8. The operating lever 29 is pivotally mounted on a bolt 30 of the casing 10 and is moved by a controlling cam 32 against the action of a spring 34. The controlling cam 82 is rigidly connected to thewheel 7. In the casing 10 is mounted-a spindle 37 which can be adjusted by a hand wheel 35 and which is provided with a projection 36 against which the'operating lever29is pressed by the spring 34. According to the adjustment of the spindle
