Chicago, in fthe county of @ook and AState `of Illinois, rhave invented a .certain .newfand use-ful :Improvement in Yokes, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, .and exact description, reference being had to the .accompanying drawings, forming apart of this specification.
rThis invention relates to improvements in yokes. f
`One object of the invention .is to lprovide a yokeV for railway draft riggings which is of strong, durable and relatively inexpensive construction.
A specific lobject, lof the invention is to provide a draft rigging yoke wherein the parts may be readily assembled and disassembled, and more particularly `such a yoke for tandem gears.

Referring first to the construction allus- Atra'ted in Figures l r'to 4, inclusive, 10 in- -dicates the shankl ofa standard draw ibar, the same having a :butt 11'ofusualconstruction, the draw 'bar shank .being slotted to .accommodate a coupler Ikey 112.
The improved yoke, as shown, comprises, broadly, a head A; 4two like .arms BB; and a rear connector 1C. A
The head A, preferably in the form of a casting, is of approximately box-'like form havingl top -and bottom walls iii- 18; and .side walls .lll-*'14, 'the latter being flared forwardly, as customary in the art.v `The top yand'bottom walls 13 are made .comparatively thick, and 'each is provided on its. inner face with a substantially iU-shaped groove or recess 15 thus leaving a heavy lug 16 having a front pulling shoulder 17 and a rearwardly facing bearing or pushing shoulder 18, providing forward and rear abutments for co-operation with'the yoke 1923. Intermediate their ends, each branch of each arm B, may be provided with an integral vertically extending lugV 22,- ofV a longitudinal dimension corresponding to :the usual distance 'allowed between the intermediate followers '2S-23, so that they `in the form vof la casting and `has'a front, relratively wide wall 24, adapted to engage the rear main follower r25 in pulling.
Above and below the plate :section 24, the Y connector C is formed with yupwardly and downwardly extending klugs 26-26, of a section to fit within the loop ends 21 of the arms and preferably the section of the lugs 26 Ais continued at the rear of the plate section 24, to provide the necessary strength. The connector C is held assembled with the arms B by any suitable means such as ,cotters V27- 27.
Vith `the arrangementv shown .and described, -rit will .be evidentthat all -of .the
parts of the yoke are o'f simple construction, may b'e manufactured -at small ,ex-pense, and are readily assembled and disassembled.
In the arrangement shown in Figures 5 and 6, the head and yoke arms B will be the same as in the foi-in shown in Figures l to 4 inclusive. The rear connector C, however, is made somewhat different, and is of rectangular form having vertical side walls 28m-8, top and bottom connecting walls 29-29 and oppositely extending, centrally disposed, interior lugs Stk-30, having a space between their opposed ends sufficient to permit the insertion of the aiins B therebetween. The lugs 30 are of such contour as to lit within the loop-shaped ends of the arms B and in assembling the parts, iiistone arm B is inserted withinthe connector C and dropped downwardly over the lower lug 230 and then the other arm B is inserted and lifted up over the upper lug 30, the parts being then held in assembled position when the followers are placed between v the yoke arms.
I have herein shown and described what I now consider the preferred manner of carrying out my invention, but the same is by way of description and not by way of limitation, and all changes and modifications are contemplated that come within the scope of the claims appended hereto.
I claim:
l. In a yoke, the combination with a hollow head adapted to receive andfbe attach-ed to a coupler butt, said head having` opposed lugs; of a pair of yoke arms each having a loop formed at its front end and arranged to detachably Et over one of the lugs of said head; and detachable means for connecting the rear ends of said arms.
2. In a yoke, the combination with a holi low head having interior spaced abutnients same in assembled relation.

In a yoke, the combination with a hollow head adapted to receive a coupler butt thei'ewithin, said head being provided with interior abutting,V elements; of separate unitary yoke arms having means at their front ends detachably associated with said abutting elements, said abutting elements being arranged to impart pushing and pullingmovements to said yoke arms upon actuation of said head; a coupler butt operatively associated with said head and interposed between said yoke arms to maintain the saine in assembled relation; and means detachably connecting the rear ends of said yoke arms.
5. In a yoke, the combination with a hollow head adapted to receive a coupler butt tlierewithin, said head having interior, opposed lugs; of a pair of yoke arms, each having a loop formation at its front end adapted to fit over a lug of said head, and, when in position, held assembled with the head by the coupler butt; and independent means for connecting the rear ends of Said arms. In a tandem yoke, the combination with a hollow head having substantially U- shap'ed recesses in the top and bottom walls thereof with the open ends of the recesses directed toward the rear of the yoke; of a pair of upper and lower vyoke arms, each having a loop formation at its front end adapted to lit within onerof the recesses of the head to be thereby pulled and pushed by the head when the latter is actuated; and means for -detaehably connecting the rear ends'of said arms.
7. In a tandem yoke, the combination with a hollow head adapted to receive a coupler butt therewithin, the inner faces of the top and bottom walls of said head being pi'ovided with substantially U-shaped recesses, with the ends of said recesses directed toward the rear of the yoke; of upper and lower arms. each having a. loop formation at its front end adapted to be received within the corresponding recess of the head and held in assembled relation with the latter when the butt is within the head; and means for detachably connecting the rear Iends of said arms.
8. In a tandem yoke, the combination with a hollow head adapted to receive a coupler butt therewithin, the top and bottom walls of said head on their inner faces being provided with substantially U-shaped recesses with the open ends thereof directed towards the rear of the yoke; of upper and lower yoke arms, each of elongated link formation `and adapted, at their front ends, to it within the recesses of the head and be held assemble with the latter when the butt is in position; and the rear connector detachably uniting the iear ends of said arms.
