T 0 all 'whomitv may 00mm; 7 Be it known that I, Guoncn S. HUns'r,- a citizen'of the United States, and a residentof Glastonbury, in the county of Hartford and: State of Connecticut, have invented anew andImproved Display Device, of which the following is a specification. i .l h'ly invention relates more' especially to to or explain merchandise in connection with the display thereof, and an'object arm in vention, among others, is to provide'a device of this class that may be readily attached to dummies representing packages of merchandise or to such packages themselves and that shall comprise an attractive display.
medium. v I v One form of device embodying myinvention and in the construction anduse of which the objects herein set out, as well as others, may be attained, is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a dummy or a regular package showing my improved display device attached thereto, the
dummy or package being broken away to i show construction.
Figure 2 is a view in lengthwise section throu h the same. I

dummy a regularly filled or unfilledl 'package may be'used. The material comprising such dummy is folded in variou's ways to securea lclosed structure, as herein shown there being a slot 8betw'een the front 7 and 'aftuckfdof the top 10, whichtuck is inserted within a-space between thefroiit"? andend flaps ll that are inturned fromthe sides of the structureand underlie the top 10. f Slots My improved display device comprises a display disc or body 14 that may beof any suitable material and of any desired shape,
this disc having slots 15 cut therethrough to provide a central or main support 16 and side supports 17 projecting from the main part or body of the disc. These slots may 18 are created in opposite edges of the central support. i
In attaching the display device or disc to .12" are form'edun the si des13 ofthedevice adjacent to the front thereof and directly [opposite each other vin said sides and as 'shown in Figure 5 of the drawings.
a dummy or to a package or carton the central or main support 16 is slipped. into the slot 8 between the front of the. carton and the tuck 9, and the tongues 19 are v slipped through the slots 12, the shoulders formed by such tongues catching in the ends of the slots and thus securely anchoring the device, The disc is thus securely supported in an upright position and is also so secured that it is-not liable to be accidentally displaced. 'The location ofthe support 16in the slot 8 and v the tongues 19 projecting through'the slots 12 support the disc against fiatwise movement and the edges of the .7
side supports 17 resting against the sideslof the dummy or packagefirmly support the disc against edgewise movement, the projection of the tongues 19 through the slots and engagement with the ends thereofinsuring'retentionof the disc in place.
In accordance with the provisions of the patent statutes I have described the'principles of operation of my invention, together .with the device which I now consider to represent the best embodiment thereof; but
I desire to have it understood that the de vice shown is only illustrative, and that the invention may be carried out by other means. i
I claim 1. A display device comprising a body having slots therein arranged to provide a central support and side supports locate-d on opposite sides of the central support, said side supports having tongues projecting from the inner edges thereof for engagement in 'slots in a supporting structure to prevent disengagement of the central support from said supporting structure.
2. A display device comprising a body having slots therein to provide a central support and side supports on opposite sides of the central support, and shouldered hold ing tongues on said side supports, for engagement in slots in a supporting structure to prevent disengagement of the central sup port from said supporting structure.
3. A display device comprising a supporting carton having slots in its Walls, a display-disc adapted to rest against an outside Wall of the carton and having side supports extending along Walls of the carton, and tongues projecting through said slots to prevent separation of the disc from the supporting carton.
4. A display device comprising a supporting carton having slots inits Walls, a display disc adapted to rest against an outside Wall of the carton and having side supports extending along walls of the carton and a' central support extending Within the carton, and tongues projecting through said slots to prevent separation of the disc from the supporting carton.
5. A display device comprising a supporting carton having slots in its Walls, a display disc adapted to rest against an outside Wall of the carton and having side supports extending along Walls of the carton and a central support extending Within the carton, and shouldered tongues projecting through said slots and engaging the ends thereof to prevent separation of the disc from the supporting carton.
