Description

j 1,570,451 S. SIMONEAU HAT HOLDER- Jan. 19 1926.
Filed Oct. 5, 1925 5 7110 Simone? 2 Patented Jan. 19, 1926.
ATENT OFFICE,
SIMON SIMONEAU, or CHICOIEE F LLS, MASSACHUSETTS.
HAT HOLDER.
Application filed October 5, 1925. Serial No. 60,607.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, SIMoN SIM NEAU, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicopee Falls, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hat Holders,'of which the following is a specification. I
This invention relates to improvements in.
hat holders, the general object being the provision of a spring strap to be detachably secured to objects of flat and circular formation and having depending therefrom a spring clip for grasping, holding, and supporting a hat thereon in the instance of theaters, parlor cars, and the like.
lVith the above and other objects inview,
the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing;
Figure 1 is a fragmentary elevation of a car seat and showing my applied thereto.
Figure 2 is a detail perspective of: my invention per se.
Referring to the present invention drawing in detail,
wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a steel strap of springy propensity arranged in the formation of, a
circle and normally having a correspond-' ingly offset end portion 11 tensioned against each other in the position as clearly illustrated in Figure 2 .of the drawing and including openings 12 arranged upon the side and extending longitudinally thereof and within which openings 12 being linked or otherwise secured, a ring 18 also extending through an opening -14: provided in one arm of a sprlng clip or fastener, as ndicated at l5, thejaws thereof being capable of relative spring tensioned expansion in 4 when the strap 10 straddles the upper side of a chair or seat back 18 in themanner as illustrated.
Although I have shown and described my inventionas applied to a seat or chair back 18 in the supporting of a hat 17 thereupon, it is 'to be understood that I do not limit myself to this limitation of the showing but that the said invention may be applied equally as well to bodies of fiatand round configuration with little difliculty owing to the elasticity of the straps 10. Owing to the like propensities of the spring clip or snap 15 that most any article may be grasped and held within the jaws thereof and against; accidentalv displacement therebetween.
details of'construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly'fall within thescope'offthe apv pended claim.
vHaving described my invention what is claimed is A hat holder of the character described i 1 comprising a spring clip arranged in the formation of a circle and terminating in like abutting end portions andproviding a pair of aligned openings inone side thereof, a
ring extending to the openings in the strap, and a spring cl p havlng'an opening pro- -S0 vided in one of the companion handle mem bers therefor and receiving the, ring therein in the supporting of the latter thereon.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
