Be it known that l, Crm1-inns D. Lyon, a citizen of the United States, residing at 11G/ N. Dearborn St., Chicago, in the county et 5 Cook and State of Illinois, have vinvented new and useful Improvements in Hat Retainers, of which the following is a specification.

rlhis invention relates to a hat retainer and has for its primary object the construction of a simple device that may be readily in- Serted in a hat and when in place will effectively grip the head ot' the wearer. An ohiect of the invention is the use of a suction device that may be readily arranged in place to properly engage the head.

W' ith these and other objects in vien' the invention Will be better understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein:

a cup-shaped body 3 which may be termed 'from rubber or other yieldable material so as to have a onction action with the head or' the wearer. This body is provided with a ft to which is attached a button 5 'for pr s e thru the hote for holding the retainer in place.

From the foregoing* description taken in connection with the accompanying` drawing', it n'ill be apparent that l provide a simple derice that may be readilyY arranged in place and which will have an eifel-tire gripping' action with the head ot the wearer vfor hold ine; the hat in place.

lt is, oil course, to be understood that the inrention may be constructed in various other manners and the parte associated in diii'erent reiations, therefore, I do not deriire to be limited in any manner except as Set Yforth in the claims hereunto appended.

Having' thus described my invention what l'. claim is:

t. ln coi'nbination with a hat band having a button hole. a cup shaped resilient holder havingr a button 'for passage through said hole.

2. ln combination with a hat hand a cupshaped suction holder haring a connection with the hat band.
