I. I XWVENTOH @W PZM JEAN F. STOLDT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
. HOSE-BUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 22, 1909.
Application med- November 4, 1907. Serial No. 400,619.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JEAN F. SToLn'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York City, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Hose- Supporter, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvement in hose-supporters and more particularly to leather garters.
The objects of my invention are; first, to provide a hose-supporter, strong, durable, economical to manufacture and with an entire absence of clasps, grips or other fastening devices made from metal; second, to provide aleather garter that is well ventilated and cool so that it can be worn with comfort in warm weather; third, to rovide a hose-supporter in which the ban to encircle the leg is fastened by means integral with said band.
Further objects will more clearly appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specifications.
The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A device embodying the features of myinvention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the hose-supporter. 2 1s a view in erspective of another form of the encirclingband.
Similar letters of reference refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawing, the hose-suporter consists of a band A to encircle the eg and a grip B, the band A being formed preferably from leather though any other suitable material may be used. The band A is provided throughout its entire length with a plurality of oblong slots or perforations C, having a three-fold function; first, they serve as part of the locking means of the band A whereby it is adjusted to the leg; second, they serve as means whereby the hose-grip may be adjusted along the band A; and third, they serve to ventilate the band Asoth t the garter can be worn with comfort in warm weather.
Near one end D of the band A are two square notches E, one on each side of the band A, and of a depth suflicient to form the neck F having a width slightly less than the width of the perforations C. When it is desired to fasten the band A around the le the end D is passed through the desire erforation C until the notches E E interock with the edges of the erforation G, thus preventing the withdrawlng of the end D and effectively locking the same.
In Fig. 2 is shown another form of the encircling-band A in which the band A is provided with the projection P made integral therewith, the said projection having a plurality of perforations C therein. This form is especially adapted for tall people or for those wearing a much shorter hose than is usually worn. Instead of suspending the hose-grip B from one of the perforations 0, it is suspended from one of the perforations C.
With my improved form of hose-supporter, any form of type of hose-grip may be used as desired. The rip B is detachably secured to the band A by passing the supporting member B of the grip through the desired perforation C, as shown in Fig. l, or the grip may be suspended from one of the perforations C, as shown in Fig. 2. It is apparent that with either form of encirclingband the hose-grip may be adjusted along the band, while in the form shown in Fig. 2 the gri can be adjusted at various elevations, as esired.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is;
1. In a hose-supporter, the combination of a band to encircle the leg and having a plurality of perforations therein spaced apart, one end of said band being adapted to interlock with one of said perforations, and a hose-supporting member secured to said band by passing through one of said perforations.
2. In a hose-supporter, the combination of an encircling band having a projection integral therewith, and a hose-grip detach ably secured thereto, said projection having means for securing said hose-grip at diiferent elevations thereto.
3. In a hose-supporter, the combination of an encircling band having a downwardlyextending projection integral therewith, said projection having a plurality of perforations therein suitably spaced apart, and a hosesupporting member secured to said projectiongby passing through one of the perforations therein.
' an encircling-ban 4:. In a hose-sup orter, the combination of having a plurality of perforations therein suitably spaced apart, and a hose-grip detachably secured thereto by passing through one of said perforations.
5. In a hose-supporter, the combination of a hose-supporting member, and an encircling band having means whereby said hose-su porting member can be adjusted alon sald band, one end of said band being afa'pted to interlock with one of said means.
6. In a hose-supporter, the combination a a plurality of 1 one end of said band I of an encircling-band having perforatlons thereln,
being adapted to interlock with one of said 5 perforations, and a hose-grip detachably secured to and adjustable along said band .by passing through one of said perforations.
