These objectsI accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views and as described in the specification forming a part of this application and pointed out in the appended claims. p
In the drawings I have shown the best and most substantial embodiment of my invention. Figure l is a side elevation of my I device with a package of cigarettes therein.
Figure 2 is a plan view of my device spread out with parts cut away and dotted lines to show the places for bending and folding it. And F igure' 3 is a side elevation of my device without the cigarettes therein.
In the drawings I have shown the pack age of cigarettes as A. A container or holding case 1, made. of cardboard or any sultable material, is provided, which is bent on the dotted lines 2 and 3 to conform with the bottom and sides of the package A. An endless elastic 4 is secured to the said container 1 by the strip of material 5 and the said elastic 4 is used to hold the package A in place in the said container 1. At one end of the said container 1 a portion} 6 is folded over and secured to the maincontainer by glue or other means and is to prevent the elastic from slipping over the top.
I of the container 1 and thepackage A, so
that they will be held in fixed relation to each other. Matches -B are secured to the container 1 by the bent portion 7 and the wire staple 8, which is passed through one side of the container. And when the con tainer 1 is to beclosed, it is bent on the dotted lines and 10 and the end piece 11 of the said container 1 is pushed under one edge or end of the said bent portion 7 to hold it in closed position, as shown in Figure 1, and the outer face of said strip 7 is coated with a composition to form a scratcher 12 for the'matches.
Having thus described my invention I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim 1. A cigarette and match holder comprising a strip of cardboard bent to form the sides and bottom of a cigarette. container and one side of a match holder and shield for the heads of matches; a plurality of matches secured on said strip by a short strip of cardboard transversely fastened on the first described strip of cardboard;
and an endless elastic fastened on the first described strip of cardboard and adapted to encircle a package of cigarettes between two folds of said cardboard strip.
2. A cigarette and match jholder comprising a strip of cardboard bent to form the sides and bottom .of a cigarette container and one side of a match holder and shield for the heads of matches; a plurality of matches secured on said strip by a short strip of cardboard transversely fastened on the first described strip of cardboard; an endless elastic fastened on the first described strip of cardboard and adapted to encircle a package of cigarettes between two folds of said cardboard strip; and a match.
scratcher secured on the outer face of the match-.ltplding strip.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
