This invention relates to an improvement in overalls, such as are Worn bylaborers and oth# ers for the protection of their clothing while at work; the object being to make. the overalls adjustable, so that the manufacturer may make all the same size, the dealer requiring a less stock, and the same overalls to fit persons of varying sizes; and it consists in'inserting in the hip-band and braces aY series of eyelets, combined with hooks on the fly, to engage either of said eyelets, according to the size of the person wearing the overalls.
A A, the two legs; B, the ily; C, the hipband, and D D the braces, all cut and made in the'usual manner, but for a large size. Into the band, at its front ends, I insert a series of eyelets, a, and a like series of eyelets into each of the braces D. To the ily I attach a hook, d, at each side, and at the top, as shown, which will engage any of the eyelets, according to the size of the person wearing the overalls. The hook is constructed as seen in Figs. 2 and 3. d, the hook, is formed with a barb, g, and perforated at its base, as at i. h, the latch, is perforated at its base corresponding to the hook, as at Ai, and indented at its tip, to engage the barb g. The base oi' the hook is placed on one side of the dy B, and the latch on the reverse. Then set an eyelet through the three, as seen in Fig. 2. This pivots the latch, so that it may be turned to the right or left, as seen in Fig. 3. The latch is somewhat elastic, and, when closed, catches upon the barb g, and is there held, to prevent the parts of the garment secured by it from disengaging, but is easily raised from the barb when. occasion requires.
I claim- Overalls having the waistband B and shoulder-braces D, provided, each, with a series of eyelets, a, in combination with the ny B, provided with the hooks d, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
